First Day On My Own (Part 1)

I looked at my watch, it was a little past 3:30. And I went over my final gear check, I didn't want to forget anything. I found I had everything i needed:
    -Surgical Medical Kit
    -Berretta 9mm
    -M4A3 Carbine (with attachments)
    -Ten magazines for each
    -Gas mask
    -Kevlar vest
It was hard being a combat medic these days, everyone wants morhpine, or bandages, or adrenaline. Becuase when you walk into another station, everyone starts crowding you and begging for this or for that. That stuff insn't cheap and isn't as plentiful as everyone seems to think. This would be my third trip out to Tekk Station. It was in most dire need, not like we all weren't. I started to think I should just stay here in Haven Station. But others needed me and I wasn't about to let my selfish needs get in the way. I also regretted my friend not coming along this time... this would be my first day alone in the tunnels.

First Day On My Own (part 2)

I smelled the familiar stench of the Metro, and as the door closed behind me the realization that i was truely alone sank in. I took a breath and turned on my headlamp, and saw only black ahead. I pushed the side of the stock of my M4 against my shoulder, holding the barrel down. That made it easier to to keep control of while walking or running.

Growing up I heard a lot of things about the Metro, that monsters lay in the deep, waiting for pry. That they eat you and then you turn into one yourself. That they are creatures from hell. I have yet to see a monster such as that. People tell me about such things and I refuse to believe it. People from Haven have disappeared and they say it is the result of those things. People don't understand just how big the Metro is, they could have gotten lost or killed by the Reds or bandits.

Soldiers come back with their minds in shreds, I say radiation is to blame for the dementia, not the so called "Dark ones". People tell me I am foolish for not believing in such a thing, but I say I'll believe it when i see it.

I had been walking for some time when i heard a noise, and it wasn't a noise I normally heard in the Metro it was.... different. I stopped and looked around, aside from the occasonal body nothing was around that I could see that would have made that sound. Then I heard it again, was it my mind playing tricks on me? Or is there actually a monster in the dark. Whatever it was screamed and it came from further down the tunnel. I raised my M4 and waited.
My heart started to pound, and that was all I could here. My breathing quickened as I saw it step into my light. It was dog-like, with pale hairless skin. It screamed and lunged at me, knocking me over. I fought to keep it away, fear screamed in my mind. It howled in protest as i fought it off. I finally kicked it off, and without even thinking I pulled the trigger loading it's skull with lead.
It went limp and I took a moment to catch my breath. As I reflected on the events that just happened, I then became a believer in the dark tales of the Metro.

Good story but do you really have to make a whole new thread for each post?

I liked the story but if you're in the Russian Metro, why do you have American weapons?
