What was the first MMORPG you played? Mine was Runescape before I tried out WOW. Since then, I've installed and played more than 11 MMORPG's. I'm addicted to the genre now :p

Mine was Runescape as well. I loved that game as a kid! Then my friend introduced me to WoW and gave me a trial key, and I got hooked on that for a couple of years. Those were hard times lol. I feel like Runescape has changed a lot since I played it, and maybe not all the change was good. I liked the simplicity of it.

I don't like the new Runescape either. I remember it used to lag so bad when I first played it as the computer I had at the time was awful. My first MMORPG was Runescape too like a lot of people. I don't like the controls much either.

Mine was also Runescape, in fact, I think it was for most people! Of course I started laying the old RS and as soon as the updates came out (and ruined the entire game) I was part of the group of old players that left completely, the game just isn't the same anymore which is such a shame, and the game is totally wrecked now which is evident by the really low amount of people playing. At best now, it's around 100,00 anytime you go on the website, but 56 years ago it was at least 1m people a day.

Hmm. If I recall, I started playing runescape in 2005, and Maplestory in 2006. Then I saw my older brother playing Ragnarok Online with his highschool friends when it was actually still pay to play. I remember that I really wanted to play Ragnarok, but my brother said it costed money to play and wouldn't let me :(. So I stuck with playing runescape and Maplestory with my schoolmates.

Like many it was Runescape, just because it was free unlike many of the other MMOs and it didn't require any fancy downloads/installations which were quite daunting for me back when I was still a kid and could just log into Runescape via Minclip.

Rappelz Epic 3 was a fun addicting game until they upgraded the game then the game went down the crapper.

My first MMORPG was Lineage II. I remember going to net cafe's with friends just to play it for hours. I had also tried Dota at that time but i did not like it so much.

This question has already been asked here. Anyways, the first ever I played was Everquest back in 2005. It was so amazing that I left other games.

I see this is a common answer "Runescape". Which isn't surprising. But shockingly that MMORPG was not my first. Mine was actually a paid to play game called "The Realm Online" that I tried back in 2005. This was such an amazing game back then. I loved it. The whole turned base combat style was fun. (Which I wish more games would have that, I know Atlantica does). The game now, as I have heard has gone down hill because it never gets updated. The player base is small, and it's still pay to play. Which is too bad, that game had so much potential and it was fun. I wish it could be popular again, and FREE!!

My first MMORPG was Everquest. I don't even remember how I found out about it at this point - but I do remember my first characters! First was the Erudite enchantress. She fell into a pool somewhere in the city and died, and since I had no idea how to get out or what to do, I started another character! This time I chose a human and ended up in a very long tunnel - at which point I found out about night vision, or rather I found out "humans don't get it", ended up lost, and moved on to my next character! I eventually settled on a rogue (because I hated myself, apparently) and a necromancer (because after playing the rogue I hated everybody else, too). Despite its many, many (many) flaws, I still have really fond memories of that game. Like the time a friend with a max level bard said "hey, you want to travel?" and took me on a trip that was half amazing, half terrifying at my level. He actually managed to keep me alive the entire time - except for one single death, when a very embarassed "oops, I forgot about that werewolf" message greeted me shortly after my untimely (and quick) death.

My first MMORPG was a not so famous game called Dofus. It was made by a company in France and had english servers. It was called free to play with the option of pay to play but it was honestly the latter as most content was blocked for free to play users. It was a really good game a couple years ago, a little overpowered and a little underpowered classes like any other game, and it worked through it. It used to be a really good strategy game that had you thinking, sort of like chess except with spells and pve. Unfortunately, the game's new patches and updates for the last couple of years have rendered it a shadow of what it used to be. Since then, I've moved on but it will always hold a special place for me.

Mine was Knights Online - I was new to gaming back then, and I sucked at it so bad, I got stuck at level 23 or so... I still loved playing it, though.

Mine was Tibia, back in the day were griefers and PKs weren't common (around 2000). I never got pass lvl 30, but I enjoyed the game a lot. I met good friends with which roleplay, we hunted, played games, idle, etc. From time to time I remember those days and try to get on Tibia again, but obviously is not the same. Nonetheless, still a pretty fun game.

You could try Wakfu, is Dofus predecessor, it has new mechanics like 'politics', destructible ecosystem, dungeons, can craft your own money (only prem), and more. And the free accounts aren't that limited like in Dofus.

Good old Runescape for me as well! I used to mine coal out in the desert. I don't know what it is about that game that attracts so many scammers. I've never seen it in any other MMO I've played. "FREE TRIMMING!" "If you type your password backwards Jagex blocks it ***********" "I'm a Jagex mod, plz give me your password or I will ban you." Haha good times.

I used to play it for hours after school and it was so awesome. All the people trying to steal your account to make bots hahaha.

The first MMO I played was Everquest back in 1999.
It was such an amazing game, nothing has come close to it since. I played many other MMOs after, but they always felt pale in comparison to Everquest.
I played the game for about 6 years, spent probably way too much time on it.
