Nice review. I do agree that some of the characters story development was a half arsed attempt. As you bought up Anna who one minute she seems to want to put a bullet through your head and the next she wants to sleep with you. That was one of my gripes and has been mentioned in the forum a few times also. With regards to the voice over we were fooled by Huw Beynon that at the time the E3 demo was shown that it would change, but the voice over after watching the survival videos led me to believe that it would be rubbish and I was right.

Re: Stealth, yeh it was dumbed down intentionally. Metro 2033 was not in the slightest like that. Hence why I enjoy the original game more.
Morality is meant to be vague, it's 4A's way and I like it. This way people cannot trick the system and leaves it as a voyage of discovery and forces multiple playthroughs.

Overall you gave 7.5/10.
Play 2033 and you'll give it a lower score, believe me.

Not a chance, plus I don't really like it's done on a console.
The thing I like the most is that it's old school FPS. I felt bit nostalgic playing it.
If this deserves lower then 7, then what do you think Bioshock 3 deserves @majnu?

I've not played Bioshock Infinite.
LL is super dumbed down.

 

That's an overstatement, in my opinion. Last Light is not super dumbed down. Yes, I agree that they have made the game more accessible to a wider audience - which means that some aspects of gameplay from Metro 2033 have suffered considerably - but the game still has practically everything that a fan of Metro would need. Stealth is unfortunately a lot easier, but then M2033 wasn't really a very difficult game either. There is not that much of a change in difficulty of the whole game - just the stealth.

 

I think you should go back and play 2033

Also based on 2033 I bought LL assuming it would carry on the brilliance. Sure LL was a graphical master piece, but whatever sequel 4A decide to make I will not buy it on Day 1 because I was disappointed LL didn't live up to my expectations.

 

Yes and I love how all forget about recoil and shoots like drunk man in Metro 2033, then bitch about weapons being "lame" and shooting mechanic "broken".
It's S.T.A.L.K.E.R. all over again.
And because of the bitching we have different handling in LL. Which mean this was made because of desperation and need to please the wider audience, changes has been made for good or for worse. That's why I hate most know critiques, IGN being my favorite bunch or morons, who made so wrong statements about different games, and who are too stupid to find options in menu, and preach wrong information.
That's why most of the newbs think the Dark Ones are aliens, and God knows what else.

 

I never had any complaints with the combat, shooting mechanics and AI in 2033. LL only improves on the shooting mechanics in that respect which is much better, but playing with the Bastard gun in LL I never had my gun jam on me or feel as though they were cobbled together and unreliable. Last Light has definitely been a mixed bag for me.
