I'm relatively new to gaming and I'd like to get some suggestions on games that are better for beginners. The first game that really intrigued me was Fallout New Vegas, from there I just kept an eye on anything Bethesda. I assumed that the platform of their games would be something that was suited for me and the way I play. I heard about Elder Scrolls Online and rented it to try it on for size. I love it! It's my very first MMORPG experience, and even though I usually steer clear of the majority of the social aspects of the game, I really enjoy it. I feel like it lets me learn things at my own pace.

So, are there any other games that fit that sort of bill? Graphics are an important thing to me, I like to play things that are aesthetically pleasing. Other than that, I don't have a specific genre I like to play, I'm open to just about anything. I do need something that has the ability to let me do things at my own pace, and I'm a terrible shot, so a game with assistance in that area would be ideal. I'm not all that great under pressure, and I'm a little slow on the draw as well, so if there is anything you can think of that would help me hone those skills, throw it out there.

P.S. Another game I enjoyed quite a bit was/is Borderlands. And I'm currently on XboxOne.

    Thanks in advance!

If you like Bethesda games and also, Borderlands, that I think you are a sandbox gamer. In that case, play everything else Bethesda has released, also, all of the Borderlands games and check out the Witcher series as well, since it has gone sandbox as well, with the newest release.

You started with some pretty hard games for a new gamer, so I'll just assume you can easily adapt. I recommend getting a Fallout 3 and then moving on to Fallout 4 if you liked New Vegas and want to spend more time in that setting. I'm not sure you can get Skyrim on Xbox One, but it's worth it if you can. It's another Bethesda game, but the setting is a second world fantasy, something similar to the Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones.

I played MMOs before but stopped for few years and I' not sure how things are going in that department. Can you recommend any other MMOs out there?

Out of pure curiosity, what's a "sandbox" gamer? I've seen bits about the Witcher, it looked like something I could get into. I watched someone play it on Twitch, they were speaking a completely different language so I'm not really sure if they were enjoying the experience.

I wouldn't say I adapt easily, but I do adapt. I'm just a little bit slower, a late bloomer, if you will. I'll get obliterated a handful of times before I get the hang of something. I tried Fallout 3 a long time ago, I didn't enjoy it as much as New Vegas, and I currently don't have it or my 360 anymore. Elder Scrolls Online is the first game I've played related to the Skyrim series, so I am definitely interested in giving it a shot. I did try Fallout 4, unfortunately, I have to pop a benadryl to cope with the motion sickness it gives me, which eventually knocks me out cold. I haven't had a chance to give it a good run and adjust to it.

Yeah, Fallout 4 can be a little heavy handed with effects. One more game I'd like to recommend to you is Mass Effect trilogy. It's such a rare example of a good story spread out across three games that will remain just that and not be milked for more. Of course, new Mass Effect games will come out, but not as a continuation of the story. Anyway, Mass Effect is futuristic sci-fi RPG shooter and is different in gameplay and setting from both Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchise.

You should try out Medal of Honor and Modern Warfare if you like Fallout Vegas. Also, if you're really interested in MMORPG games maybe you should try out Warcraft. If you like strategy type games then League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth and Defense of the Ancients is right up your alley.

It basically means you enjoy an Open-World experience. Where you can go around and explore, do quests, stuff like that. And there are only a handful of such games available. Must importantly. Bethesda games.

Oh, well, sorry to break it up to you as well, but you started on the wrong foot there. You should've picked up some more casual games, such as League of Legends, for example, since these games you picked really rained on the parade. But I think I would've started with Elder Scrolls too had I been a gaming rookie as well, ha, ha.

Like Chris said, sandbox games are a good first stepping stone. Try Garry's Mod. :D

If you want a good PC MMO game, I'd try Vindictus. It's a very pretty game, even on low settings. (I have a shitty refurbished office computer, and it can still run it okay.)

I've picked up The Witcher, and I scooped up Destiny as well. I haven't had a chance to give either of them a good run around, but I'm really looking forward to Destiny for some reason. Please tell me I won't be disappointed. I'm looking into everything suggested here, so thanks for the input!

The Witcher 3 should be a game you would enjoy. I've been playing it for a while now and I barely got past the halfway mark. Pretty in-depth and cool game.

Fallout 3 was my favorite of them all and I HIGHLY suggest purchasing it, or at least getting a "student" addition ;) If you know what I mean. . . Atop of that is anything Tom Clancy. My suggestion would be to get a beta code for The Division and playing it soon. ((Mine was only 56 cents))!!!

If you preferred Fallout New Vegas to Fallout 3 then I would definitely second the recommendation of the Mass Effect series. It isn't completely sandbox, so you wont have the same level of freedom, but the story is absolutely top notch, and it is visually very good. The idea of your decisions having real impact on the world you play in is a key part of the games, so if you enjoyed that aspect of New Vegas I wouldn't hesitate. You should make a decision, though: if the story is more important to you then go through all three in order but if the graphics are a deal breaker for you, then don't feel too bad about jumping straight in to 2 Mass Effect 2.

I agree that Fallout 4 can be a little heavy when it comes to effects and all of that, but I am under the impression that it is best to delve in and go all out right away, so I would say that it is your best option to really engross yourself into the whole experience. That might be for everyone though, so take it as you will.
