Hey guys. I have been thinking about getting back into the game since it become really popular. I began playing in beta and stopped playing about six months ago. I just lost interest in playing and it just got boring. But recently I have been watching lots of League streams and got interested again. And since it is Season 5 now, maybe I will have more luck with the teams and fulfill my dream of getting to Diamond. :D

Do you guys have any tips for me to get back into the game?

You could read up on tier lists to see how the metagame has changed – six months is long enough for many champions to be nerfed or buffed heavily and for a few new ones to be introduced to Summoner's Rift. NerfPlz.com has a great tier list with explanations, I'd recommend you read that.

Just jump into the game and start playing. That's the only way you're really going to get back into it and figure out if you can progress beyond what you'd accomplished during your earlier play time. It's as simple as that.

If you're coming back for the competitive gaming, but you lack a proper team for it, you might as well forget about it. Public ranked games are a joke and most are frustrating. If you're just looking for a good time, then sure. The game has a lot of new stuff you'll probably enjoy, as long as you don't make a big deal out of trolls ruining a game or two.

I recommend watching the LCS a lot to get back into the meta. Then try Team Builder.

Yep. Watch pro streams. Also, watch guides. There are patch specific guides made by pro-players in Youtube.

If you're planning to get better at the game, I would recommend watching the LCS games that are hosted on the Riot Games channel on Twitch. I'd also recommend watching pro players stream. If you go on Twitch and go to League of Legends, the top streamers are usually the good ones to watch.

Go ahead. It's changed a lot in here, including graphics. Though you will see that our beloved square-boots Taric didn't get anything of particular except minor ability buffs.
But the game itself changed a lot! Just start playing ASAP. :)

You should definitely get back on playing as soon as possible! A lot and I mean A LOT has changed bro! You should start playing now so you can quickly adjust on the changes and enjoy the game once more.

I think the best way to get caught up is learning about the latest updates and the changes they have brought. Also I tend to watch youtube videos to get updated with the current meta since I do go in and put of the game quite a bit as well and I always feel like I'm constantly playing catch up but after a few videos and playing some trial games I get back to the groove of things fairly smoothly.

There isn't much to it except to just jump right back in. See where you at skill wise and assess what you can reasonably accomplish in whatever amount time you are willing to invest. I would continue to watch streams of good players and see where you are at.

If you want rejoin, just do it. Nothing has changed, everyone still feeds and you will still get stuck in platinum elo. Man I'm so salty.

Yeah - I started playing in Season 1 and I came back around pre-Season 5. It's never too late to start playing again, there's a reason why they make new seasons. Obviously the fundamentals of the game stick and shouldn't change, but newer seasons change the meta of the game for newer players.

If you stopped playing just six months ago, out of a lack of interest, the game hasn't really gotten more interesting since then. If you want to get back into it, play with friends and experiment with new builds and champions to try and find something new that's interesting.

A lot of players in rank game suck. Well most of them keep on typing and trash talking players who die. The funny thing is they do not perform well but they keep on talking crap to their team mates. I mean, if my champ died because of a mistake and a player who is doing good so far would tell me I did something wrong, I might appreciate that, but someone who keeps on dying are always the ones doing the crap talk.

I think a lot is going to depend on why you stopped playing in the first place, and like others have said, if it was because you just simply got bored with it, then even though there have been a few changes made recently, they won't be enough to keep you interested more than you was.

We all tend to over play games and that leads to us getting bored, but with a game like LoL, one of the attractions IS that we can take a break from playing and then just jump straight back into it whenever we want, and so if you do want to pick it up again, the fact there hasn't been that many changes can also work in your favour.
