For those of you that don't know, Go is a board game in which one attempts to surround his or her opponent's stones, and surround empty spaces. Played on a 19x19 board, each player takes turns putting down "stones". Each captured piece is worth 1 point, and each surrounded empty space is worth one point. There is a handicap system for different skill levels, and the game can't tie!

I started playing this game recently, and have really fallen in love with it. I was wondering if anyone else plays this game on these forums. If you do, talk about it here! I can also answer questions.

For more info, you can visit here: http://www.usgo.org/what-go

  2. One of the ancient video games introduced me to Go and I loved it. I think it was Dark Earth. Nobody I knew played it though and I couldn't find the game board itself anywhere, so I gave up.

Oh and for anyone unfamiliar, it's not [gou] as in go somewhere, but [go] as in goblin.

IF you're ever up for a game, I can play you at any time!
Also, I thought it was pronounced like the english word "go" O_O

  4. Last time I played it was over 15 years ago, so I might not remember the rules too well, but I can brush them up. It's not the kind of hobby I'd be able to afford spending a lot of time on, but I could play it occasionally. I assume there is some website that allows online play, isn't it?

I've always heard it being pronouces as a flat [go], so I assume this is the right name for it. A quick search online didn't help, so I'm not sure if I was correct or wrong.

Interesting :) I've yet to see a board game that actually makes me enthusiastic except from Chess. Buuuuuut I'm not really into board games, simply because there's so many other things I can do instead :p
