Not sure if this is really good or bad, but I guess Microsoft had to bring down the resolution of the game from 1080p to 900p. The Xbox One of course will upscale Ryse from 900p to 1080p as it will do it for all games.

Do you think the quality will be ruined because of this? Or will it matter to you if it's a bit lower in res?

Read about it here: Gaming Blend

It won't matter that much, unless you have a massive tv and look really closely. The graphics won't get affected very much by it, and it being upscaled shouldn't blur it very much. Don't worry, it'll be fine ;)

I don't reckon we'll see that much difference. In the photo below, you can see the difference in resolution between 768 and 900. Its the same gap of resolution between 1080 and 900 more or less.

It wont make much of a difference. 720p is actually better in some ways than 1080p. 720p can handle faster speeds better than any 1080p tv, so a game like Ryse might even look better on a 720p tv. Now wait and see it on a 4k tv, that's going to be where the magic is.

I know on my TV it's not going to matter too much at all. Did MS do this for size purposes? Anyone know?

From what I have seen there still is a 1080p resolution for Ryse available. The difference it's not so big, but it can have affect the graphic quality of the game.

Upscaling of that scale shouldn't really affect the game. They probably had their reasons, and if a tiny bit smaller resolution means significant performance improvements otherwise, I don't really blame them.

The decrease was probably done to increase the overall performance. I think it was a great move by them to do this early. Instead, of waiting for the problems to arise and release a update.
