Has anyone here been scammed out of real money (or premium items) on EVE?

    I've read several news stories of EVE players who stole virtual objects and/or items that were worth thousands of dollars on EVE, has anyone ever been affected by these scams?

    I've never been scammed in Eve, but I am very careful. I find the value of most of these scams to be hilarious because it is very difficult and against TOS to convert in-game items or money into real life money.

    Their are always people that try and scam in any MMO you play as long as your on your guard and pay attention to trades you should be fine I have never been scammed playing any MMO , but getting hacked is another story.

    Scams are something that are close to impossible to avoid, especially if there's room for player to player in-real-life trades to occur. It brings me no shock that such a scam has taken place. Though I myself have never been scammed when playing Eve, I have certainly heard of some of my friends being scammed by other players.
    The only thing we can do is stay cautious.

    I was scammed one time out of real money. This guy took $40 from me and I haven't heard from him since. Thankfully, it was done through PayPal and my money was reversed within a few days.

    Via Paypal? Sounds so not plausible, since when do they return on virtual goods?

    You really have to be drunk or something if you get scammed at all, at least regarding contracts and trading. Seriously, the way the interface presents the transaction makes it so that you legitimately don't have to read anything and click yes to everything to make a trade that you don't want to.

    I have never been scammed, ever. Neither in real life, nor on the internet. I say it proudly.
    You just have to be careful and do background checks while trading.

    People get scammed when they are greedy and think they are the ones scamming. I've never felt pity for people getting burned with their own tricks.

    Besides the few times I was scammed out of an EBay product, I have never been scammed from MMO games. I don't trade or buy things for MMO game related items unless they are officially endorsed.
