Have you ever cheated in a game?

There are many ways to cheat games most of it comes from codes. Other's use bots to level up or use med machines and autopots in MMORPGs. I'm not saying its immoral just really unfair for other gamers. It would be ok if you were just playing alone but in MMORPGs a lot of people can tell if you're using cheats. What are your thoughts on cheating?

I would never cheat in an MMO or any multiplayer, I feel like that's potentially ruining the experience for others. For singleplayer games, yes, I've cheated before, but I'm sure most people have typed in a cheatcode before in their times playing videogames. I don't think there's anything wrong with cheating in something that is a strictly a singeplayer experience, because in that case the only person you are ruining the experience for is yourself.

I never cheated in a RPG or something that's related to the genre. I play the games for the story, missions and item collection and I feel like by cheating you're not going to enjoy the game as much as you can.

Yes, plenty of time and plenty of time I have been banned. I rememeber that I had a cracked version of CoD MW and I was cheating like a kid and banned straight away so I kept generating new keys in order to login again onto the server and restart the cycle again.

I only cheat if I'm playing a game that I have beaten the first time by legit means and I'm going through it again just for fun. Otherwise, I'll play a game straight since I'm in it for the story and I don't want to spoil my fun doing it any other way.

I've never "cheated" in game on my first time around. When I played at FO3 at my friends house, you bet your ass I put on God Mod and had some fun!

I would never cheat in a game as then what's the point of playing it if you have already unlocked all the secrets, achieved all the goals in the game, and pretty much did everything you could do before you actually play the game. Only logic I could see in this is if someone planned on selling it off or something, but the legality is quite a gray area in a lot of games. I suppose though for those that like to gloat it would be feasible. I asked my one friend before who does a lot of "afk-ing" in high traffic areas where his characters automatically fight what the point was and he didn't really have an answer for me. In general, it just seems kind of ridiculous to me.

Nope. I don't cheat in a multiplayer games it really destroy the fun of the game. But if it's me or a single player RPG of course but if it involves other players I don't cheat.

In am MMO, no way. That's way too unfair & completely unbalances the game. I know someone who owns a gaming website and they are constantly having to deal with people using bots to get through the game quicker. You get found out and your account is gone. So you're not only making the game unfair to other players, you're risking the loss of all the work whatever method of cheating you use did for you in the first place, so it is just pointless in the end.

If its a single-player RPG played entirely on my own, though, I'll admit I've used cheat codes on my old DS before. It was back when I'd first found out about cheating in games and got the Action Replay, and started spam using it to get instant money in Harvest Moon, lmao. I was like a kid that had found a new toy and felt the need to use it over and over again until it became boring. I ended up breaking one of my games, and haven't used cheat codes that aren't already implemented into the game (like in-game secrets) since.

Thanks for replying so quickly guys. It's great to see a lot of gamers out there are still honorable players. I think cheating in a single player game is fine too because you're just having fun.

I used to cheat in Ultima Online all the time to raise skills. Basically stick a penny in the keyboard to make a skill fire repeatedly for skill games. Some skills were just horrible to raise by ´normal gameplay´. Stealing, Music, Peacemaking were once I remember ´pennying´.

There was also a program that ran a script to help you raise other skills. I think fishing is the only one I cheated on.

That was probably 15 years ago. I´ve played WOW for 8 years without cheating because everything seems appropriate. In UO, some of the skill gains were just out of whack.

I haven't cheated in any RPG, unless playing around on Pokemon emulators counts. Since some of the Pokemon don't appear in a certain version and trading is out of the question, I would use Codebreaker to introduce those into the emulator.

I really look down on those who cheat in MMOs (or any multiplayer game, for that matter). It seems to ruin the whole experience for everyone.

Depends on the kind of cheating. I have used bots to help level characters in the past but never anything beyond that. I farmed everything on my own and crafted on my own time as well. The thing about leveling and me is that once I level a couple of characters I get so freaking bored of it. Same questlines, same grind, same blah blah, please shoot me. At one point I was raiding 7 nights a week on several servers cause old guild mates or friends would drag me into their raids to fill in for a missing member for progression raids, ect. So that meant lots and lots of freaking leveling. I had like a dozen max level druids in Cata.

I've used glitches to get to certain areas and whatnot, but that's about it.

Usually, I cheat if I cannot pass a certain part of the game or if there is a bug that's stopping me. Once I have finished a game the first time, then I may go back to it later. When that happens, I then give myself positive boosts in some areas, while also giving myself negatives in others. In my mind, I consider this 'karma' role playing. For example, I may want to be an awesome pistol shooter in Fallout 3. So I give myself 9 or 10 in Perception, Agility and more points in One-Handed Guns, but then I give myself 1-2 in Strength, etc.

Have I ever cheated? Yes, yes I have. I paid good money to play whatever game it is. It would be a total waste of cash if I gave up on playing the game because I got stuck somewhere. Actually if I go out of my way trying to get some type of cheat or extra help it just shows how much I want to play the game. I know some people will want to take the high road and never use a cheat and that's ok. I'm not a professional gamer, I don't make let's plays on YouTube so who will judge me?

Yes, in fact I did cheat multiple times because only so I got to explore the part that only people who paid for their memberships got to explore, there were some cheats you had to download in order for your account to appear as an upgraded one.

Never in an online rpg, and not before beating/100%ing the game the first time, but yeah. Some cheats are more like eastereggs (for instance turning Spyro blue or giving characters a new outfit) but I generally avoid those as well until the game has been beaten.

I think cheating is along the same lines as paying real world money for in game currency. It seems to me that if you really don't want to work to achieve things in the game, then why do you care about actually having them? Doesn't make sense to me. The only game in which cheating makes sense is Grand Theft Auto. Otherwise why bother playing at all?

Depends on the player's situation. If there's a freaking glitch that can't be overcome in order to progress by normal means then yeah I can see the need. It happens, especially on new game releases and a patch hasn't officially come out to fix it yet. To give yourself forever health and all the best weapons? Yeah, then playing the game's pointless. I mean each to their own, but people who go the route of forever health and weapons generally are what I personally see as lazy and entitled.

With my case with WoW... After you leveled your 1st max level characters on both factions, it's all the same with the only difference being class skills. I only generally used leveling bots on classes I already know and am good at in order to raid with other people across realms. Cause let's face it. Leveling the same class over and over again is boring as hell.
