Have you made any friends playing MMORPGs?

Have you made any friends in real life after meeting while playing MMORPGs? Not me, but I know a guy who went on a meetup with some people he met on a game and he ended up marrying a chick he met there.

I met my husband playing Fiesta Online. After we met on that game we remained friends when we grew tired of it and continued to play other games together. After about 3 years we agreed to meet in real life. I flew out to visit him for what was supposed to be a 3 month trip but is now going on 5 years.

Apart from that there have been a couple people that I've met and I know more than a few who have become friends irl after meeting in games. Some of my best gaming buddies met in Guild Wars and now they go to Yankees games together a lot.

I have met a few people playing the games, but not too many. I am still playing, so new people come and go. I can meet people and then they don't play anymore. Yes, I have some that are still around that I have played with.

I've met some other players in person, but most of them lived in the same town. It's always funny when you're playing with people from around the world, and yet you're able to find someone that lives within a few minutes of you.

Yes, I have made some friends thanks to MMORPGS (playing Lineage xD) but not from my country, I still have contact with them thanks to the internet, but more than making friends, I usually try to encourage my friends (not gamers xD) into play MMORPGS.

I've met a lot of people in real life after playing games online. Depended if they were close by in the area or not. In fact some of my best friends are online and we meet once a year or so just to hang out and do stuff. When I was on the West Coast I had a ton of online buddies up in BC so driving up from Seattle and back wasn't an issue, so we'd meet on the weekends all the time.

Made a few friends which enjoy playing MMO's as me and we can have some good times over team speak. Sure met a lot of people over time that can enjoy games as much as me.

I've met lots really and I try to keep in contact with them because a time will come that some will quit or jump to a different game. But I managed to find my own permanent crew, some maybe trying out different servers but once we found a good game worth trying, we contact everyone via Facebook and decide together if we are gonna join or not.

I have met just a few new friends playing MMO's since I am kind of a picky person, but also a very shy one. But I also never felt the need for new friends because I am just a loner, trying to play the game and get good at it. Playing with friends makes it a lot nicer though, I know that. But still, not needed for me. If I play with friends, I play with friends I know in real life, which makes it double the fun. I have been trying to find some friends online, but some just are too wierd, too agressive or just not great "friend material".

I met some of best friends playing LoL and WoW. Some I met as guild members, some I met as enemies. That's what MMO's are there for, playing with people, it's inevitable to meet awesome people to bond with.

I haven't met up with anyone I've played MMOs with, but I have been to a few gatherings for Kingdom of Loathing (not an MMO, but a web RPG with a very devoted community). Does that count? ;)

I wouldn't mind meeting up with some of my guildies, but usually how it works is the friends I already know will all start playing a game and form a guild. So, we know most of the members, but we have a few that we're trying to convince to meet up with us. Totally for innocent reasons.

I try and I try, but I can never seem to convince anybody to just play the game.

I found a guy who went to my school on a game before. It was pretty cool, and we only stopped talking when he moved away.

Yes, quite a lot. I've met plenty of long-term friends playing LoL.

Indeed I have! I made a lot of friends online and it's cool that we share the same hobbies and have the same passions.
I talk daily to them via Skype/TeamSpeak and it's going great!

I have never met anybody from a MMO IRL, but I have made some cool internet friendships where we've exchanged Skype IDs or talked about stuff outside of the game. There are some great people on MMOs, but sadly none of them live in my city and if they do I have yet to find one. Happy that everyone else has, though. Must be an interesting experience.

I met some of my best friends on WoW, some of them are my real life friends now. MMO's are a great place to meet similar minded people, they are almost becoming social networks.

If Minecraft servers count, then yes. I've made a couple of friends on the server, but after the server shut down, I never really got to see them again. But I wouldn't really stay friends with someone who I've never met in real life. It just doesn't feel right.

Yes, I got my girlfriend to play WoW with me, and I convinced my cousin so I can get a free month of game time off of him.

Yes. I've made a lot of friends before playing MMORPG and it was on a game called RuneScape, since I've played a lot of MMORPG, the only game that I remember making friends on was RuneScape, due to the easy system of friendship on it and it was browser based.
