Having been out for a while now, how do we feel about X and Y?

I've not had much time to play them unfortunately, and only really get a couple of hours during the weekend - as a result I'm only 4 badges in.

I've got to say though, I love what I've played so far! The graphics are great, the battles look wonderful, moving in multiple directions is very useful, and Pikachu says its name like in the anime! I can't bring myself to evolve my Pikachu though - I feel like we've bonded.

I haven't really had a chance to play around with the new Fairy type yet. I caught a couple of them early on, but none were all that powerful, and until Dragon types emerge they probably won't have quite as much use.

It's all very impressive though, and I'm looking forward to playing around with post-game stuff (I've heard the breeding has been massively improved now).

Well despite being 3D and completely awesome, it dosen't have the old-school feeling like when those times when you were engaged in games like Fire Red. Pokemon just dosen't feel like that good old pokemon anymore.

The only thing I liked is being 3D. I only liked the old games (especially Gen I), the later ones somehow lost something on the way. IDK why exactly, but my fav. game still is Pokemon Blue. Maybe I'm just Old School like that game is :)

I have only seen a few gameplay videos of X and Y, but it looks good, but I don't know how the post game is I would have bought it if I had a 3DS, but I am not going to buy a system for a couple of games.

I think the new games are great, the new Pokémon aren't stupid, the graphics are great, the music is awesome and the storyline is one of the best of the series.
For me it's probably the best gen, especially come January when the Poké-Bank opens and every single Pokémon will be available to trade.

  6. I personally have enjoyed the new games quite a lot! The music in the game is amazing as is the graphics and gameplay overall. I definitely agree with Oakster that the storyline has definitely been one of the best so far.

The new Pokemon are actually really great in terms of design and viability competitively. Some of the new abilities are the best and most creative that Game Freak have come up with so far in my opinion.

The new Mega Evolution has actually been great to play around with and I love the versatility it gives to the Pokemon and how it has made a bunch of unmemorable and overlooked Pokemon such as Kangaskhan as chance to be used competitively.

The Fairy typing I think has been been a great addition to the typing chart too. My Sylveon was absolutely amazing throughout the game and an extremely useful member of my team.

Breeding has been massively improved and it has been a ton of fun messing around with it and breeding some great Pokemon.

I absolutely agree with everything, except that I think that some of the new Pokémon are way too overpowered, especially Steel/Ghost and Steel/Fairy types, they pack a mean punch and have lots of resistances and imunities.

Eventually. If I ever get a 3DS. Doesn't look like a will though, i'm not going to buy it just to play pokemon and then never touch again afterwards. We'll see.

I have never watched a walkthrough on Pokémon X and Y, but I am intrigued to see what the after game is like.

The 3DS has lots of great games now, what type of games do you prefer? Maybe I can show you something good you might like on the 3DS...

I feel that... honestly, I want to see their sequels, because I consider X/Y to be sort of a base for future games in the franchise more than anything.

I felt like this game rekindled my love for Pokemon. I haven't beaten a Pokemon game since Ruby and Sapphire came out. I just couldn't take them seriously until X and Y came out. These games are excellent.

I had the same feeling when playing Black and White, but I don't get it on X & Y.

I get that feeling because it is the first fully 3D Pokémon game, so I imagine they had to spend a lot of time creating the models and such for every single Pokémon, among other things.

And you feel shortchanged on the features?
I think they added lots of cool stuff this generation, like Mega Evolutions, Wonder Trade and the Battle Maison.

No, in truth, I don't... but I just think that they may have spent a lot of time creating the engine and redoing all Pokémon in 3D yet still managed to add a lot of new things, so I'm really looking forward to the next game, in which they probably will be able to give a much stronger focus to new Pokemons, features and such.

Hell, I kind of hope we get a Pokémon Z or something, 3rd versions are always the best.

I'm loving the game so far. The graphics are gorgeous, the fact that I can start battles within a few minutes of starting the game goes a long way in keeping me interested. I'm only about six or seven hours in, but I have a feeling I'm going to be playing X for a while.
