Hearthstone - The Old Gods

I haven´t bought any expansions yet, but I do log in and play a good bit when the expansion are released just to see what has changed with the metas and stuff like that. I am not really a huge card game fan, so it is hard for me to judge. Do you think the new cards are OP, or just more interesting and fun?

 

Some of the new cards are OP, I would say - others are just interesting and fun (Or in Yogg-Saron's case, kind of dumb.) and others are just useless in pretty much every type of deck.

Personally, I'm mixed on the overall expansion, there's some genuinely cool stuff in it, but I can't help but be super disappointed in the large amount of C'Thun and cards that synergize with C'Thun, it just seems lazy to me. On the positive side, I'm a huge fan of the changes to the overall format, cycling out cards was something that the game has needed for a while.

 

That really is a problem for devs of any pvp game, even card games... balance. If they have a large amount of general cards that interact with the dozens of types of decks people are already playing, they run the risk of having a card or two making a previous deck OP. But if they take the decks that people are playing now, and create a new deck, where all the cards synergize together, it is much easier to balance that new deck against the previous ones. It is the sign of a dev team that is afraid to make a mistake.

 

Some of the common cards seem to be more powerful than I expected in this expansion. Not that I'm complaining. It makes things interesting to say the least!
