    Got this from another forum.

Quite cool what this kid has to say to his teacher.

Do you guys have teachers like the one in the video?

What do you think about schools today? and about the teachers? Do you prefer young teachers and their way of teaching or the old fashioned teaching?

Do you think the school-system is a brainwashing tool?

  2. Current educational system was designed for the times of industrial revolution. It doesn't work today.

    But I don't care.

You can tell this is America by the fact that he doesn't get bitchslapped by the teacher for talking back.

I wouldn't get bitchslapped if I talked back to my teacher in any way. I know teachers here would prove you wrong with words and you'd feel really ashamed of yourself and might as well to be put in the right way. Instead of unnecessary violence which won't really teach much.

If I had proper arguments and proved my teacher wrong, he/she might had given me a medal (Lol) Because as far as I know we are taught to be able to protect ourselves with words as well.

I only want to hear people's opinion about what I said above if you read it.

If you consider it a spam thread then just watch the vid, leave a LOL comment and leave.

found this somewhat funny, teachers here are more like wardens of a jail that force knowledge into your head even if you don't want to learn that particular subject.

I don't prefer young teachers and their teaching methods; I find it very kindergardenish and somewhat of an insult. The two best teachers that I've had are my former AP chemistry teacher and my current Dual Credit English teacher. One reason why I think they teach so well is because they have taught at a collage level. I prefer my old chemistry teacher to my English instead, because that guy is genius.
We would be sitting in class and he would start working out a problem onto the board and we would just sit there, amazed at how fast he could solve the damn problem. He would multiply extremely long numbers in his head and come out with an answer before anyone could punch it into the calculator. Then he would ask us if he was correct and then said, “ Of course I’m right. I’m always right.” Sure enough he was right. BTW, he has a giant monopoly mustache and some type of European accent, which makes him even cooler.

I saw this video on the Chive this morning. It was pretty entertaining - I feel bad for the girl sitting right next to the kid.

I hate teachers like that. My biology teacher knows so much about biology but she can't pass on the knowledge because all she to is yab away for an hour, with the whole class just derping away on our devices, then the last half hour we will get some assignments. Boring as f**k. Most of us get mediocre grades because it's almost impossible to concentrate when she is so boring.

I prefer new teachers to older teachers. They know how to make learning interesting, the involve the entire class and not just mr. straight-a, and they are up-to-date on the how the world works. They integrate our devices in our learning compared to just being thrown a paper and being told "Do the assignments".

they usually differ from the age, older teachers mostly like to teach the old fashioned way. Young teachers the new way.

not really, I've had young ones who've though horribly, and old ones who've though with a newer approach. The main part is less how you teach, more connecting to your students.

That teacher seems like a nightmare... her manner of speech is just so bad, boring and dull. If something like that happened at my school, that kid would have probably been shouted at and maybe even pulled outside the classroom. It's weird though, since England's secondary schools seem pretty damn authoritarian for a western representative democracy, whilst the rest of English society (except for the overload of cameras, the pervasive police force and a few other things) is quite liberal in comparison to many other countries. This weird combination makes no sense to me.

Also, the fact that you have to wear uniform in British schools disgusts me (which should be understandable, since I come from a very different cultural background). In Poland, the last time people had to wear uniforms was when the Soviet Union controlled our country. Making me wear a UNIFORM to go to SCHOOL offends me. I see it as a restriction of my personal freedom, a lot of discomfort and it reminds of a police state.

Die Welle has a lot to do with what you just wrote. I remember it was quite scary to watch for me because it reminded me of the week I spent in the Air Force - the leader (officer) encourages you to work as a team - one person's mistake is everyone's mistake since they didn't help enough, and the discipline and uniforms. The thing is, I really liked the military, the discipline, the uniforms, the unity and the camraderie. But that is exactly what hr. Wenger tries to impose on his students as an example of "autocracy".

One thing that annoys me about some teachers (Most commonly with young ones.) is that they would punish the whole class for what one person or a small group of people did.

Actually, the young teachers I had would be fair and not do such thing. More like old teachers use to do that...

But yeah doesn't matter who does it, thing is that "habit" is still alive and it's quite annoying.
