I just wanted to know how you guys first discovered Metro be it the game or novels. Did it come at random or had you herd of it while playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R?

For me it came in a rather lame accidental way.
I was watching a walkthrough of some random game and scrolling through the related videos on you tube I stumbled onto what was a Metro2033 walkthrough. I thought to myself, "... egh, the picture looks cool..." and clicked it out of boredom. Little did I know that it's story and atmosphere would grab my heart and hold it ransom for a thousand MGR. Sadly I soon forgot about it as I was jobless at the time and never had the will to go out and buy it.

It wasn't until 3 months later when the game and it's spark reignited in my heart while I was on a vacation in Montreal, Quebec and accidentally bummed into it at EB games. I bought it immediately, along with left 4 dead 2...

I allowed myself to play L4D2 for the remainder of my trip on a friends Xbox but dared not touch Metro until I was at home on my own Xbox and alone. Once back were I belonged my journey could begin and I was hooked forever, soon buying the book at my local mall a few months later. I searched feverishly for 2034 but was crushed to discover a copy in English did not exist.

Time passed and Metro became a favorite of mine but know one I knew had heard of it. Then one day I was watching TV and thought. "It's been awhile, I wonder if there's a Metro 2033 2?" immediately I searched and discover the first announcement trailer and the other one which was pretty much the same but called "gameplay trailer". I was hooked once again. And that's when I joined these forums...

I randomly found the game whilst searching a gamesite for a new game to buy. Ater watching a trailer I thought "hey, this looks pretty cool", and ordered it. When it came with the mail I immediately went up to my room and and started playing it for more or less 2 days straight till I finished it. A while later my bigger brother told the game was built upon a book. Intrigued I bought the book and read it. And I was STUCK. when 2034 came out I got as fast as I could and I got the into the light(?) when I became 17.

I've already shared my story but anyways. I found and bought Metro 2033 in a subway (literaly, there are these shops underground, i guess there are such shops everywhere where there is a metro station) while on a vacation in Kiev two years ago.

I and my best friend have always been following up each other on games. He has showed me Arma2 and DayZ, which we've both enjoyed a lot together, that including GTA IV, Halo2 and probably a lot other games I can't remember at the moment. One day he was at visit, he told me to look up the trailer for Metro2033, and so we watched it together. He said it looked pretty cool and he liked it, so he was going to buy it. I was a little sceptical, as i'm mostly fan of third-person games an games where you have character-customization, and not FPS games. But I knew that I had earlier liked his choice of games, so I thought "Why the heck not, it's cheap anyway", and so I bought it.

My best friend and I both played through the game at the same time, occasionally chatting with each other about the game in steam, so it was great to have company despite how it possibly broke a little bit of the immersion for me. We completed it, and I loved it so much that I completed it four more times, and when I was getting slightly bored of it, I thought "Hey, let's check if there's a sequel coming up!", and so I went to check out youtube. And that was where I found the ad for this forum, and so I decided to join it because I've always loved to hang out on forums previously. That was one and a half year ago, now being two years since the first time I played Metro2033.

    So that's that :3

My brother is a massive fan of STALKER and basically told me it was the closest I was ever going to get to playing on STALKER as he's a bit protective of his computer so I bought it and then I bought the book :D

I saw in a site that Team Fortress 2 had become free to play, so I decided to take a look, but to do that, I would have to install Steam. After some time using it and playing TF2, I convinced my mom to give me her credit card number to put $10 on my account. One or two days later, Metro was in sale for $5, I saw the pictures, liked it, and bought it on impulse... Now, 1 and a half years later, I've finished the game 3 times and convinced 6 friends to try the game.

Please do not kill me for this but...

I-I first rented Metro 2033 and then once I had finished I decided to buy it. I was looking on the wiki for my second playthrough when I saw the link to this forum. First thing I looked at was the RolePlay and then the question thread.

I'm a survival horror collector. Been one for quite some time now and I'm always on the lookout for horror games in general but I first heard about Metro 2033 back when I briefly worked for a now defunct Belgian xbox 360 webzine. It must've been somewhere in '09 when I was asked to translate and post a small announcement that came straight from the mouth of THQ onto our website. It was for Metro 2033. It immediately sparked my interest and I gave the game a high priority on my wishlist.

I guess my story would have to go back to mid 2007, when my brother bought S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl during one of our holidays in Poland - shortly after the game's release. We both installed it on our PCs, hammered it and adored it. In 2008, we got S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky - the prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl. It wasn't as good as the first game, but was still a very unique experience; filled to the brim with Stalker atmosphere. By then we really loved the Ukrainian developed GSC Game World, who made the Stalker series.

When Metro 2033 (the game) was announced in 2009, me and my brother both wanted to get it badly. It looked brilliant and we were really interested in it due to the fact that 4A Games was formed by a group of people who left GSC Game World a few years earlier. I ended up buying the game shortly after release. Upon playing it, I fell in love with it just as much as I did with Stalker. After two playthroughs I decided to get the book. I read it, really liked it and got Metro 2034 afterwards. Read that, liked it just as much and then got Piter. Piter remains my favourite novel set in the Metro 2033 Universe to this day. Then I got Towards the Light, which I liked almost just as much as Piter, but felt that it would benefit from being a bit longer.

Recently I bought Into the Darknes, but I still need to read that. Since the game's release, I completed Metro 2033 four times and got all of the achievements for it... sorry, felt like I just had to brag about that at the end. :p
I know exactly what you mean! There's a shopping gallery at one of Warsaw's metro stations too. :D
