How do you like to build your home?

I don't build a lot, but when I do I build a base underground (in cases of multiplayer servers). It's more secure to have your base underground because people have a harder time finding it because it's not out in the open. The chances of someone finding your base underground is extremely slim, unless someone cheats.

I don't like building on extreme hills because of the way the blocks are placed by default. I'm not good with making houses on slopes, but I really want to learn & practice how to because you can get some pretty rad architectures on extreme hills.

 

If I can find a lake or body of water I like to make houses that are partially in it, maybe a dock or two and sometimes a glass basement that looks out into the water if it's deep enough.

 

I like to keep my house kind of simplistic in its design. I don't do like others and go for the grandiose mega structures, I usually pretty a humble home and then to build my ridiculous contraptions elsewhere.

Also, I really like to base my homes underground and have some kind of theme to it, such as like a wood cabin... but underground.

 

I love making a very big tree house. That way it can keep monsters out in the early development stages. Once I get it really big, I build a wall and make a cobblestone walkway covered in redstone dust. After the wall is finished, I go inside and cover my floor in red carpet and start decorating everything. I generally like to have a glass roof for natural light and a few windows on the side. If my house is near a body of water, I will build a walkway to the roof and make a diving board going off the roof into the water. Tree houses are hard at first when building out into thin air, but once you get the flooring down, they are really fun to work with and can have many different qualities.

 

I usually try to find a flat area in a plains biome, or some other kind of flat area, on the edge of a forest. That way, there's always wood nearby if I need any (and most of my houses are made of wood), and there's usually a cave entrance in the same biome so I can get whatever else I need. It also means that the house would stand out at night, because of the lighting inside the house, which is useful because I tend to get lost a lot.

 

Sometimes I like to find a Snow Biome and build nice warm wooden mansion with a really nice fireplace.

 

I found a seed completely randomly that had mountains with a C like shape to it, where one end is completely hanging over nothing but air, so I cut it off from the mountain and built stairs to the bottom leaving it with one entrance in and out with iron doors at the top, so no mobs can get to my house, especially creepers. So I've essentially built myself a floating island fortress.

 

How do you get down? Do you just like to live there forever? Do you have a farm on it?[/quote]


Like I said, I built stairs to the ground from my front door, making it the only way up to my house. I don't really farm, to be honest I skipped the part in the tutorial when they taught me how to. I just go out and find animals during the day and collect what I need, I have a fairly nice stash of assorted cooked meats to last awhile.

 

I usually just build on top of a high mountain or something, or I build my house in the sea, preferably near an island of some sort. Occasionally I make an underground home, if I feel like it.
