How long did it take you to be "good" at this game?

I remember me and my friends started around the same time, we had some free time in college so we would go to the local computer shop near the university and play LAN together. At first we just played with AIs, but when we thought we were good enough, we would join in on the other people who were playing as well and do a 5v5. Usually we get our asses kicked of course, since we were just starting up. But I think a few months obsessed with how the game worked, I actually got good at it. I read guides online, I watched other people play the characters I'm interested in, and enough practice with AI to get confident, I actually managed to win matches on my own. What about you guys?

From season 1 to season 2 I played completely ass, but I was stuck in a mindset that I should be able to do the things I was able to in another game (Heroes of Newerth). Shortly after the season 3 start I actually tried to change my gameplay around and got more confident in my ability and was able to finish Diamond which was a huge improvement from my previous performance and ELO. I would say it could have been better if I wasn't so stubborn to begin with!

I didn't get really good until I got serious with hotkeys. That was probably months into the game. I'm still not all that good but I made a huge leap a few months in.

It took me a long time to get good at this game, I didn't get the mentality at first at all. But I still don't like to play PvP unless my friends are with me.
    a) Because we have a solid understanding
    b) Because we're right next to each other or speaking through teamspeak, so there's no need to type anything
    c) Because I hate the toxicity of some players. I know they are a minority but it's very distracting.

I don't think I'm good yet but it took me mons before I became competent at least. I usually have to play lots of games to warm up again each time because I usually just watch streams and tournaments so usually what's in my head is far better than what I can actually do in game lol.

Hell, I don't think anyone is really "good at the game" until they hit challenger or higher. I would consider myself average at a Gold 3 level. As for when I started truly understanding the deeper mechanics of the game, I'd say at about 300 wins... that's when it started to click. All the things that people told me that I'd nodded at and went about my business finally started to hold weight. Then it was almost a re-learning processes after that new enlightenment. Like gee, maybe I should look up builds and maybe watch some youtube videos on role mechanics and last hitting. :p

I still don't consider myself 'good', but after seeing some completely brand new people play the game, I realize that there really was a steep learning curve.

I think it was around level 20 or so that I stopped making completely basic mistakes, such as getting hit by towers for no reason, getting destroyed by minions etc, and it was a bit later that I actually started doing good enough in my games to be considered 'carrying'.

Still, mobas really do have a steep learning curve.

I started with a lot of practice, a lot of gaming with AIs back when I was in high school. I was embarrassed to play with real people until I've mastered atleast one champion and I didn't start to play with my friends until I've mastered the game itself. These days I'm just a casual gamer but in the past I was pretty semi-pro with my ranked games.

It took me weeks to get the hang of this game and note down the basics but to get at a decent level I would assume around a year or so. There's so much to learn in this game besides just knowing what champions to play and what roles suit each champions. Since I main Jungle and Top it took me close to 4-5 months to get down the mechanics on how to effectively play both positions. I barely play League nowadays as I'm to occupied with work that I have no time to play a game or two.

It took me 2 and a half years to finally be Gold in ranked, but after that I've been smooth sailing ever since, I was Master last season and I hope I can reach that rank again this season (Diamond 2 atm).

I started to play in Season 4 and am currently sitting at Gold 4 this season. I would consider myself good by the definition of good being better than average. At the same time, I know there's a lot of people who are better at the game than I am. I think it only really took me a year to get "good" at the game, since I was able to quickly absorb information about the game despite my mechanics being average.

I don't know, I'm still pretty bad in my opinion. It took me about a month to get somewhat decent to the point where I wasn't just feeding the enemy though.

I played obsessively for maybe three months before I felt like I could actually hold my own in any sort of combat situation. I was lucky since I had a high ranking friend who made a second account to help me level up and learn the tips and tricks of the game. That being said, I'm still learning something new every time I play.

It took a lot of practice, and after reaching level 30, I still had to play a lot more to become "average", at least 2 months. The learning curve is huge, and it requires a lot of practice.

Took me about 2 months to go from silver 3 where I placed to diamond 1. I played mostly Ahri and Lux mid and tried to really master those 2 in particular and the role I played. I watched streamers who would play them and tried to copy them and watch replays of myself to see what I should've done. I usually went from the start until my first big mistake and tried to work on my game from start to finish like that. I would practice last hitting in an empty server, just like basketball players practice shots.

I started not too long ago so I don't think I'm "good" yet. It feels like no matter how much I play, there are times when I would absolutely suck and times when I suddenly feel like I'm the best player. I would say that I'm decent right now. The champion I play the most is Ahri so I usually have mid to myself and I do well enough by myself.

I have been playing it for years and I believe I became good at this game after a few months of dedicated gaming. A safe estimation would be 6 months of continuous play before I get the hang of its mechanics as well as knowledge of all the skills and items. Then, I continue sharpening my skills for years until I become really good at it, to the point that every single action seems like second nature now. The only thing I have to take note while playing now is the opponent actions and style.

I have played this game for years and became good after playing for a year. My skills keep improving the longer that I play it. I have to say that I am completely addicted to this game and find it very enjoyable. I will continue to play for more years to come.

Wow, we can all agree on the fact that we all sucked ass at the beginning of our league journey. I'm not really sure I can consider myself good at this game since I've been struggling from Season 4 to get out of Gold, but at a second thought, most people struggle to even get out of bronze, so I should consider myself lucky. :D

"Good" as in proficient? I think it took me a few months to fully understand the different character abilities and the basics. Last hitting minions, understanding jungle buffs, and exactly what I can do to help the team took me a few years to be very good at. I think there's always room for improvement, even the professionals slip up. I've been playing this game for about 7 years, and all of the new character releases and buffs and nerfs and items keep the game fresh, there's always new things to learn.
