How much content available at launch?

There are so many different parts to GW2 and I'm trying to get my brain around how much actual content will be available at launch.

We know for sure that there will be:

    1. Personal Story
    2. PVE
    3. WvWvW
    4. Structured PVP

But then it gets interesting (not that the list isn't bigger already than most games release at launch) because each of those can branch out - some of them in lots of ways. Not to mention known expansion/update plans like housing and guild structures.

For Personal Story it appears that at character creation there are multiple branching questions tied to race and I think at least one tied to profession. And race in and of itself dictates where your personal neighborhood is located. There are also questions as you move through the story that impact your neighborhood and story. Not sure how many hours of gameplay total in this area but it makes me very excited that working on alts (especially of another race) could be like a new game (at least for the Personal Story part).

For PVE the lands so far look huge with each area having a theme/story to it. I'm hoping that there is enough difference in DEs, critters, NPCs, etc that each land feels like a brand new place to explore. One of the things driving me nuts right now in LOTRO is that every new area they create is almost a copy of some existing area. Dungeons in GW2 look like they will have lots of replayability since they include 4 modes (story and 3 branches) plus they include DEs of their own. Then there are all the mini games and crafting.

WvWvW will change things up not so much with different maps but with different competitors every couple of weeks. I can see even more possibilities if they add in different maps after launch. Being able to level within WvWvW is exciting and adds a whole new path through the game.

Structured PVP is set to be an ever changing challenge. I'm hoping that they provide a wide variety of maps and rules (not all necessarily released at launch) that keep this aspect always fresh.

So how much content is this? I'm thinking it's enough to keep me busy for at least 6 months at my rate of play which is a huge contrast to what some new games do for me...there again a lot of new games I have trouble playing after about level 20 - once everything just becomes the same thing over and over again. I will be thrilled if there is enough to keep me busy for a year or more, it would be so nice to find a new MMO home.

How long do you think you'll be busy with the launch content?

For quite a while, they're offering a TON of content. It'll depend on the "feel" of the game for me. The current amount should keep hard core players at bay for a minimum of 5-6 months and then we'll likely see some type of expansions and major updates. It'll also depend on the difficulty, if they offer truly difficult dungeons/encounters then it'll keep you busy a lot longer as well. If you can run through any dungeon with 6 players and not much skill then the game wouldn't even last 3 months. I'm hoping there is enough content to keep everyone completely busy for at least 6 months.

Regardless of how long it takes me to be finished with one char, I will be making new ones for their personal story experience. Its looking like each race has a completely different setting, progression, and story all around. With that being said, it may take you 3-4 months to be happy with your human, but what about an asura... how about starting a char? The replayability is huge, and then there will be expansions (ie: Nightfall, Factions, etc).

Im seeing myself playing this game 5+ years easy, much like GW1.

I read somewhere (or heard an interview) there will be as much content as combining factions, nightfall, and proph into 1. Don't know if they were referring to land mass or quest count or just "content". but the latter was my impression.

crazy week this week or i would do some reasearching and try to find it.

That has got to be a huge pain to put together all the mass between the expansions, I don't got a clue how much that is since its all instanced.
