I've finished metro 2033 and would like to give metro last light a try (As I like Deep Silver, I love Risen). From what I remember in the end of Metro 2033, Artyom launched a missile from the tower to kill everything on the surface. My question is why are there still monsters in metro last light? Is it the monsters who live in the tunnels and survive the explosion like the anomaly for e.g?

incorrect... the missiles were sent exclusively to the gardens zone, where the darkones were.
you will still see fauna and enemies outside.

As Tamalero is trying to say, the missiles were aimed at the Dark Ones' nest, and struck only that. Moscow is a whole lot bigger than just the Dark Ones' nest. Even if the missiles did strike all of Moscow, there'd still be mutants inside the shelter of the metro, who'd thereby survive ;)

S you're asking why, if we launched some missiles at a certain part of Moscow, why every single mutant within 10 miles wasn't disintegrated while still somehow sparing all humans within the same area?

  6. MRLS controlled from D6 is a BM-30 "Smerch". It does not use nuclear warheads in any of available payloads.

    so, they 're conventional missiles.

Still surprises me how these kind of trucks were active despite the severe damage on the entire place.

  8. That's because they weren't damaged. Miller says they were found by teams somewhere in the Moscow oblast and are "well preserved". The shortest range of BM-30 is listed as 25km and the oblast is 45,900 sq km. That's a lot of territory that was potentially undamaged at all.

it still leaves questions on the nukes power and where they hit.

  10. Original M2033 book leaves it ambiguous and says that Moscow was mostly attacked with biological and chemical weapons.

M2034 book says there is at least one unexploded warhead on the surface near one of the open sections of the railway.

Sources like expanded universe books and such claim at least three.

Last Light shows at least one hit.

That is the entire point, however. It happened and it's in the past, nobody knows a definitive answer and everything can be used as a plot device.
