By the way I'm new, so it's nice to meet you! I was wondering this (what I wrote in the title, I mean) because I saw plenty of gameplay videos about this game, and while I thought at the beginning that this was some kind of survival game like DayZ or Rust but in a third person perspective with better shooting mechanics, it turns out that it's more like Borderlands or Destiny. You're just looking for the best weapon and/or equipment around these places, right? That's the entire thing that makes you keep playing, you shoot and loot around. So no real reason to scavenge the environments to survive and find shelter, or to actually work with other players that you don't personally know in order to fight for your life. I don't know, is there something I'm missing? Because what I understood based on I've seen so far is a bit disappointing to me, the scenario that the game is presenting could be so much more that just another open world shooter with light RPG mechanics. What do you guys think? Am I looking at this at a wrong angle? Is there something else to do in the game that I don't know?
It might be for you, might not be. Honestly I think it will turn great and everyone should be able to enjoy it. But we won't know until it's released. So wait for some gameplay to be released and see if you like it. If you end up getting it let's play together maybe.
But I saw plenty of videos and I don't know, it doesn't look like there's a lot going on in this game. Ghost Recon Wildlands is made by the same developer and it already has a lot more content, and is more coop focused too. Videogames cost a lot these days, so I'm just trying to understand how this game is worth the price that is asking as an online game.
I don't know what to say. We don't really know what this game is going to truly be like, so I suggest you hold your horses before we see some actual demo footage of this one from Ubisoft.
I'm not really sure. It's hard to say, even if you like suvival games, it doesn't even mean you'll like another survival game, it's just so hard to predict if you'll like something sometimes.
Although it may share some similarities with the games you mentioned, liking Day Z or other survival games doesn't mean you'll like or dislike The Division. To an extent, survival is always part of a shooter because you have to stay alive in order to play and progress. Check out the videos, read up about it, and ultimately play it to decide for yourself!
I think you will like it, it has some similarities but has a healthy difference. Plus not as many toxic players
I don't consider The Division a survival game once I saw how it really is, if it was one you should respawn with zero equipment when you die. I know it's crazy and may lead to frustration, but it would make the game a lot more intense.
It's kind of like that though, because if you die in the Dark Zone, all of your loot that hadn't been extracted can be taken by other players. So to an extent, you have to survive the PvP areas...
If you liked DayZ, then you will very much enjoy this game. If you thought DayZ was lacking in content and how it played, then you'll LOVE this game. It isn't as hardcore as DayZ though, where no matter where you were you could get killed by enemy players and the guns/supplies you scavenged for are gone. If you stay in the light zone then you respawn with your items and supplies intact, if you venture out into the dark zones without extracting stuff then you could potentially lose it all to other players. It looks like a great game and I can't wait to try it out
