If you could make anything have additional uses what would it be?

Probably gold. I know it already has some uses, but at the same time, everyone thinks it's something that should be really valuable, but it's not because it's completely useless.

 

I like the idea of cooking eggs. Maybe make a flute with reeds to lure animals too.

 

Well, that's adding new items, not adding uses to old items ._.

 

Gold needs more uses for sure. Almost worthless besides things like golden apples.

 

The egg idea is pretty smart. I agree that Minecraft needs more additional uses for existing items.

 

Golden apples are great, I almost forgot about them Here I was thinking the only use for gold was powered rails (and I don't really use rails so whatever)

 

I agree with everyone about the gold. I'll rarely use gold at all and most of the time, I'll just craft armor pieces just for the look. The idea of crafting golden apples with gold could be an idea. To be honest, I've only obtained golden apples through spawning them but It would be real nice to craft them.

I'd probably want saddles to be able to be used on anything. I mean whats the point of killing the enderdragon if I can keep him as my mount?

Exactly. I mean you can make powered rails with it but how many people actually set up a mine cart system in their mines? I mean for a strip mine maybe but the people I play with cavern mine a lot more often because it's more interesting.

 

I made a minecart system in a huge strip mine network I made over a month on a server. Without it it would've taken at least 5-7 minutes to walk from the entrance to the part I'm currently mining out. But yeah I do agree that gold needs more uses, at the moment on servers it just goes straight into the economy and in single player worlds it gets made into blocks and hidden away in chests for eternity.

 

Personally, I think feathers could have some more uses. All of my bases start with a chicken farm, usually, and I find myself with an over abundance of feathers. Seriously, feathers everywhere. I mean, you can make arrows from them (and arrows ARE useful), but anyone in their right mind would hunt down a skeleton spawner and be set on arrows for life. And I do! So that usually leaves me with a ridiculous amount of feathers for, what, fireworks and writing books? I don't need 10 stacks or more of feathers for that at all. I also really agree with the gold thing...I make overworld gold farms for fun and I usually just use the gold to decorate the room the gold farm is in.

EDIT: Also the feather thing you mentioned is true too, I never really noticed it but I also usually find myself with quite a few feathers/string etc and I just usually throw them all away.

 

Yeah, it really piles up. Honestly the only thing that gold ended up doing was getting stolen by some vandals after my server went into its scheduled anarchy. I almost managed to completely replace all the blocks in the room with gold before the server fell to the flames, haha. I also find that flint piles up to. I mean, arrows, but again with the skeleton farms. Outside of arrows, the only use for flint is flint and steel. It's a good use, but as it isn't a one-time use you're never going to need as much flint as you manage to build up on accident from simply mining. I only need to start so many fires and anything I need fire for is usually done on netherrack so I don't have to keep starting them. You know there's a problem as far as uses go if I'M okay with throwing them out for other items and don't even feel compelled to come back for them. And I'm the packrat of our server. :/

 

Pumpkins aren't...no, I won't even try to defend pumpkins haha. I had a buddy who built these huge frickin farms specifically so that he could live off of pumpkin pie. The hunger you get from it is terrible but he didn't care too much. I remember him and one of our other friends lived off of watermelon for months to annoy everyone else with their constant eating. To be fair to pumpkins, they are also an awesome cool helmet with built in enderman protection. I know a guy who wears one constantly because he changed the overlay into a futuristic looking HUD for himself.

 

I like the idea of hatching dragons with the eggs. I've thought a lot about this actually, I'd really love to see it put into game.
