If you could rate your favorite games of all time, where would Minecraft be on that list?

There is no one time novelty with Minecraft for me. Minecraft for me is like Lego. There is no "I have built everything in the entire universe and now it's boring". To me, Minecraft is about creating a foundation, then improving on that foundation, expanding on that foundation, eventually creating a grander scheme of things. Eventually, it gets to a point where I get to stand there and reminiscent on its humble beginnings and the journeys I took that finally lead to this point in time.

When I am done with that, I will put it away and play something else until I feel like going back to it again or start a new map. The biggest difference between Minecraft and all of the other games I've played since the mid 1980's is that the only limits of Minecraft is how far my imagination and my desires will take me. This isn't about Minecraft. It's about me. Minecraft is just my canvas. I am its paint brush.

With that said, I have a difficult time ranking favorite games. Each favorite game offers me a different experience and each gave me a lot of enjoyment. So instead of saying where Minecraft ranks in my list of favorite games, I will say that Minecraft is one of the most enjoyable games I had ever played and it will continue to be a game I will play, even if it means I may stop playing it for some weeks and months, it will be something I will always go back to eventually.

 

Mine would also probably be around 5-10. It's fun to come back to, but I can't play it for very long periods of time.

 

Rating my favourite games of all time would be hard, but Minecraft should be in the top 5 at least, if not the top 3. Notch's creation is simple and the concept unique, that's why it is loved by millions!

 

I don't really have a definite list of video games that I would consider my favorites, because they're all bound to get boring eventually, I suppose for the enjoyment factor when I first experienced, it'd probably be like at #6 or something.

 

I think minecraft would probably be first on the list. Most other games I just finish and never look at again, but with minecraft I keep going back and there's always something new, either from a mojang update, from a bukkit plugin, or from a client mod.

 

Honestly, Minecraft beats a lot of games. Its the sheer fact that the worlds are unlimited, meaning it is at your mercy to do anything with it. Its an unlimited world, no resources will ever run out. I can easily put Minecraft as one of my favorite games of all time.

 

Considering that i play on various consoles, Minecraft would be on my top 30 list, placing at 34 next to Borderlands 2 and LoL.

 

I agree with tinybutnotfangless, I have a really hard time ranking games, but think Minecraft is great. I can't remember a whole lot of the best games for myself, but I would probably rank it behind COD3, and Mario World, coming it at #3.

 

I've played a lot of top notch games in my gaming career. I don't think Minecraft will be in my top 5 list but possibly my top 10 or 20 list. I like sandbox games but I am more of a competitive person, as well. Minecraft is a great game but not one of the best games ever, in my opinion.

 

It would certainly make the top 10 but probably not the top 5. It's a pretty awesome game though.

 

I really enjoy playing Minecraft actually. I love to explore the world and build these huge houses. I especially love exploring the deep caves and I still remember finding my first diamond ore and I got so excited! I'd probably put it somewhere between WoW and Rift, which is a pretty high rating in my book!

 

Wow, of all time? Minecraft is an excellent game, no doubt, but we're talking of all time. That means we, or at least I, have to add The Last of Us, Uncharted series, Skyrim, Fallout series, Borderlands 2 and much, much more. Creating an all time list, I didn't intially see Minecraft on it. Maybe to fill in a blank spot at the end. But I could see Minecraft being in my Top 20 maybe. The game is an amazing product that produces a feeling of achievement that few games are able to re-create, but there are vastly more impressive games with a better production value, a graphical improvement and you know, and actual story that goes along with it. I can't really say that I'm attached to "Steve" as much as I am to Ellie

 

I have played a lot of games, and overall I think Minecraft would be in the top 15. Of course, it would be impossible for me to rank games, I love so many of them
