If you had the option to live through a MMORPG

What would you do if you had the option, the opportunity to do every thing from the real life in a MMORPG along with others like you. For example you would work in the game, you would earn money and someone would bring them to you. The only condition would be that you would never leave your room in the real life, you would have someone who would bring you anything you want, but couldn't enter the room just give you the goods. You could make relationships on the game, romantic ones even, but in the real life you would not leave your room. You would even have the option to make kids without even having contact with a woman.

Would you take the opportunity to live your life through a MMORPG and give up on the real life?

Hell no.. games are a good escape for a few hours from the real world, and at times they can be a bit more. But real life is much greater than any game.

Sounds a bit like Sword Art Online honestly. Idealistically it doesn't sound that bad since I'm pretty much already a social recluse for the most part. Realistically I just wanna move back to the NW and live the rest of my life in the woods haha.

The entire point of games is an entertaining escape. In no way would I choose an MMO over real life. The choice may seem worthwhile on the surface, but MMOs just don't compare.

Sounds so much like Second Life to me. Here's the thing I would absolutely choose to live like this only if my body's become a vegetable and only my mind is working. I would want to be uploaded to a computer or a virtual reality game.

Well, it's great to see that here aren't people who are disconnected from reality. I have a friend who would, who already chosen to live inside a room instead of real life. He would go out only to buy cigarettes, every time I ask him to come out he says "not today brother". Did anyone here had a friend like that? What can I do?

I am kind of that type of person. I mean I never go out and I don't really care to do it. More or less I consider the virtual life better than the real one, it's for this type of reason that "we" kind of isolate our self from the real world.

No. If all I'm doing is sitting in my room all day, I'm probably going to end up weighing 400 pounds. And yeah, this sounds a lot like Sword Art Online, just without the VR aspect. If there were no virtual reality, and I'm literally just staring at a screen, I would probably end up going insane.

I wouldn't ever do that. That's like basically putting yourself in prison for the rest of your life. I think I would go crazy if I couldn't leave my room anymore.

I could never give up my real life to live in a game. Even though I have met some of my good friends over MMO, I would not trade that for spending time with them in the real world. Sure, some people may be happy as long as the experience brings them joy, but it would not be the same for me.

As others have said, video games exist to offer a temporary escape from the stress of real life. Yes, video games will always be a part of my life, but they will never be my life.

Fuck that could you imagine Grinding in real life? Also you would get killed a lot and that shit probably wouldn't be too fun. Ill stick to reality and have a bit of gaming fun a day.

Well, no thank you, I would rather stay here. If it would be anything like Sword Art Online, where the weakest monster was a freaking boar, it would be a nightmare to live in.
There's also the PVPing players who would try to murder you for your loot every day, that wouldn't be very fun now would it. Although, if there ever is a virtual reality MMO in the oculus for example, I will be all over that, I probably won't leave the house for a while!

It sounds really fun but i don't know about that. It could get really lonely too? Maybe i would want to live in a game only if my family and friends will too? Haha that would be amazing! Actually, if only the real world would move into the game, with all the endless worlds and beautiful places, monsters, challenges, flying things and like an ancient world kind of theme, then i'm all in! God just thinking about it makes me so giddy! lol :)

I can't say that I would, certainly be interesting to try out, but my whole life? :( I like my ability to do what I feel like and don't want to restrict that. I also feel like my heath would go to shit stuck in a room 24/7. Not worth it to me at all.

One of the funny things about gaming is the amount of grinding and unfun stuff people do while playing a game for free.. but if you asked them to do that in real life, they would revolt. Some of the stuff the raiders used to have to do in vanilla wow was amazing.. they would switch profesions each week based on who the next progression boss was.. grind unlimited uses of potions etc.

Uh no I wouldn't want to go through that at all. I agree with some it is like being in prison or something. I wouldn't want to be in a position where I couldn't do anything in real life. Games are awesome and they are a great escape for a few hours, but actually going through and living/working in one would be tough. You know somethings are good to try, but your whole life is a huge gamble haha.

In my opinion, mmorpgs are amazing. It seems our characters have the perfect life. They fight monsters, meet tons of friends, party, earn a lot of money, and have an overall perfect life in general. For a while, being in such a reality may seem amazing because we're not used to the ideal life, but it'll start to get dull. Everything will start becoming routine and you'll want to opt out, but can't. Even playing games all day gets boring, so I can't imagine it being any different when actually living in the game. Real life is beautiful. It's full of challenges that aren't as easy to overcome, which keeps everything interesting. I'm much more fascinated with the world we live in now.

I would jump on that... as long as I have the option to return to this world and eat. I'm sure food in MMOs suck.

I think that your idea could be expanded to some sort of "Virtual Reality", but in no way could I replace my enjoyable life for a chance of living in a MMO. A second life that I could access through my dreams would be really, really okay and I would be down to paying big money for it, but replacing my life in its entirety for a MMO experience... nah, not my cup of tea, sorry. :D

Nah, I still would like to go out and enjoy the sights and sounds of my city, even if I do hate dealing with random strangers that want to stop and chat with me for no reason. I think the only time I would agree is if I was bedridden with a disease and I couldn't interact with the rest of the world...or once I reach old age and decide to live in solitude.
