What if you had to leave your house because of an unknown near-apocalyptic danger (Collapse of society, NBC war, zombie apocalypse....you name it) what could you take with you?

Use http://www.innawoods.net/ to build your setup based on what is realistically available to you!

    Here's mine.

Based on what's available right now? Well, shit...
Rifle is airsoft, of course. Best bet would just be to chop off the orange tip and try to use it to hold somebody up. Maybe could injure a squirrel enough to finish it off and eat it.

  3. Realistically I'd be dead. I have better chances by staying in my apartment, especially in a zombie scenario. But with the things I have within my hands' reach right now, it's not much different from what I carry around on a daily basis.

I think I have all the basic stuff needed for survival, but I can't think of anything portable in the house for self-defence other than two pocket knives and some kitchen cutlery.

    Here's the list:
    • Sunglasses
    • Bandana
    • Military helmet (Polish '80s surplus)
    • Military parka (Polish '80s surplus)
    • Hiking backpack
    • Pouch
    • Kitchen knife (smaller and sharper than the stereotype)
    • Pocket knife
    • Digital wristwatch
    • Headlamp
    • Painkillers
    • Bandages
    • Toothbrush and toothpaste
    • Toilet paper
    • Liquid container
    • Multi-tool
    • Smartphone
    • Gas mask filters (probably useless now)
    • House keys
    • Military gas mask (Polish '80s surplus)
    • Maps
    • Cooking pots/pans
    • Sleeping bag
    • Ushanka
    • Passport + all other ID cards
    • Blanket
As you've probably noticed, I didn't include any food. I wanted to fill the available space with other things and, in all honesty, the first thing I'd do after leaving is probably go to town and rummage through the local Eastern European food store (it's really a Polish food store, but they have a few shelves for Czech/Slovak, Lithuanian and Russian stuff as well). I can't imagine life without Polish food, so if I had to leave and go on a journey through England for whatever reason then I'd want to stock up on this stuff. I know of only two places nearby where you can get Polish food - it's not quite as widespread as Chinese or Indian food that you can find in almost every town in Britain.

    Let me explain:
I have a ghillie suit in my closet. I'm not sure if I'd wear it, but at least I'd bring it. Not only does it provide great camouflage, but on cold days it's a very good isolation. On warm days, I'd need something else or else I'd melt in the suit.

I have a small folding knife that I've had for years. It's worn with a lot of bumps in it, but that's nothing I couldn't sharpen up with an electric sharpener we have here at home. I somehow managed to add a throwing knife, but I was going to put my katana there. I'd sharpend that before leaving too, of course. I also somehow managed to add three pistols, but I'd bring my two PT-85 airguns that shoots flat-headed lead-pellets at 138 m/s. I use flat-headed instead of sharp ones because they do more damage to whatever surface they may hit, instead of -only- penetrating.

I'd bring my pilotglasses and the British Swat S10 gas mask that I've had for years. Unfortunately it has no filters except one defect, but I'd still bring it. A large mountain-backpack with a lot of stuff as you can see, including a tent, backpack and portable stove. AND DUCT TAPE. The vest is actually a fishing/utility-vest that my father has. As you can see, I added a geiger counter. I don't exactly have that here, but my friend lives 2km away, and I'd go home to him to get that. And more.

EDIT: And I actually forgot to add something to the belt. Meh, I'll make a new one later.

^Pretty good. That website was basically able to capture how I look like in my cosplay outfit.

    Going counterclockwise, from the top:
    Israeli gas mask
    Small military medical bag
    Headlamp
    Rope
    Money
    Playing cards
    Matches
    Large military Alice backpack
    Small medkit
Extremely old (shortly after WWII) boxed bandages
    Military flashlight
    Map
    Compass
    Twist to open shaving razor
    Hobo can stove
    Military pliers
    Binoculars
    Boy scout pyramid tent
    Book
    Flint fire-starter
    Bug spray
    Small shovel
    Zippo lighter
    Lighter Fluid
    Hatchet
    Pocket knife
    Machete
    Canned food
    Dark chocolate
    Needle and thread
    Military canteen
    Military sleeping bag
    One gas mask filter
    M-1943 army field jacket
    Vietnam era helmet

"Where is the toilet paper and the toothbrush?" You may ask. The toilet paper would have to be substituted by my hands. Not really. I would take some, it's just I couldn't make it fit in the picture :p. The toothbrush, I use a liquorice root as a toothbrush (since there wasn't a picture of a root, I didn't include it). I would take other things, such as a small metal pot to cook food in, utensils, soap, batteries, my sharpening stones, small can of oil, small can opener, slingshot, BB gun, three shotgun shells that I found once (might come in handy someday), and my dog.

For now, that is all I could think of. I'm sure though, if I were only given ten minutes to prepare and get out, I would probably forget and leave a quarter of the things behind that are on my list.

    Ahah, how so?

It's pretty interesting how many of us have some kind of helmet/camo uniform.

I guess it's probably because I was raised on Polish cuisine, so it caters to my tastes the most. There's plenty of stuff even if you don't eat flesh, though much of Polish cuisine is meat-based so I've been missing out on a lot of it ever since I turned vegetarian three years ago. Everything from the basic stuff like bread, cheese or tomato soup I usually find much tastier in its Polish variety than British. Then there's all the stuff you don't get in the UK, like barszcz, pierogi, żurek, ogórkowa, etc. and all the different desserts as well as better alcohol. :p It's all subjective really, though I have to say Polish food tends to be more natural than British food - even the mass-produced stuff (but that's changing).

Saddos like us are obsessed with militaria and other crap of that kind (for cosplay, collecting or whatever), so that's why many of us have things like this and I guess this stuff would be much more useful in any kind of apocalyptic scenario than most other things that people collect.

Yeah, i guess a collection of postage stamps won't be of much use if shit hits the fan...

i suppose this thread could also become the place where we can post our crazy outfits made on innawoods.net

Here, this is more accurate. (What may look like a military diamond ring beside the two air pellet guns is a headtorch FYI :p)
In difference from my previous picture, I've now added a pair of skiing glasses for eye protection if there's ever a case where I don't want to wear a gas mask (which will be often). Toilet-equippment is important no matter where you are. I'd wear my black cargo pants and black army jacket, together making 10 pockets at least. I do in fact have a small medkit at home. Headphones and cellphone is a must, and with that said, I would definitely bring my harmonica. I'd also bring my expensive black winter coat to stay warm, despite already having thick clothes, ghillie suit, blanket, sleeping bag and tent and portable stove. Because you can never get too warm ;) What looks like a pirate's knife to the left of the guns, is the katana I'd be wearing on my back, or maybe on my belt if I could fit it there. And the rifle is an old air-gun that shoots sharp pellets at just below 300 m/s. The pistols shoot flat-headed at 138 m/s for a larger area of damage, with less penetration.

I just realized I forgot my green large water canteen. And for food, I'd buy that in the nearest grocery store and carry the bags in my hands, or strap them to the back of my backpack. I'd buy only food that'd last for a long time, like canned food of course.

I doubt they'd be much use in a apocalyptical situation.

If you're going for Metro-inspired, then you need to replace everything you own with gas mask filters and magazines for guns you don't own. :p

Whoa Komodo, that's some juggernaut equipment there. Mine was more like "common Metro dweller".

Here's my take on the Metro style:

The primary weapon is suppose to be a heavy automatic shotgun.

You could say that Roflwar's is more 2033, whilst Komo's and Nuclear's are more Last Light (or just from completely different factions). I might give this a go at some point too.

  18. Actually I meant the Red Line soldiers, that can be found in the Depot for instance:

I was originally going for a metro-dweller look, something similar to Artyom, but then I accidentally put the unitelescopic infrared/nightvison goggle on and it reminded me of someone who would be in the Forth Reich; so then I put on some nazi type of gray cloths and helmet, and then "voila." A Forth Reich heavy assault trooper.
