Ever since they have announced that this game is going to cost a monthly subscription on top of $60 price, I am not sure if I would eve buy this game. What do you guys think? Is it worth the price tag?

The subscription will be only $14.99, it's not that bad... I will buy it anyway as this game is going to be huge in my opinion and I trust Bethesda when it comes to creating an Elder Scrolls game, I would buy it even if the subscription was higher! Also, many things can change until the game comes out as there is a lot of time until that day comes.

First of all, this game is not developed by Bethesda. It's bee developed by their sister company Zenimex Online Studios. But, I think ESO has just committed a suicide. You'll see it either dying soon or switching to either B2P or F2P model really soon.

$14.99 at month it's not so low if you compare it to many other online games.

I didn't know that it is not developed by Bethesda, that changes a lot of things in my mind although it's their sister company as you mentioned. Well, I don't know if it will not attract people as the Elder Scrolls games have a huge base of fans but it's sure a turndown for someone who wants to play for fun and not because he is an Elder Scrolls fan as he can play World of Warcraft or many other MMORPGs for free.

Are you referring to EVe Online and WoW? Becasue as far as I know, these two games are the only one who have a monthly subscription fees for their games. Most games launched with a subscription fees has either died or have switched to B2P or F2P business model.

I think that World of Warcraft is free now... Anyway, $15 are too much for any game to pay every month. Why don't they set the subscription at $5? It's a small amount of money and they will have lots of income too. They may also have some premium items and other stuff that you can get with a higher monthly fee of 15 dollars. Why don't they do that as they did in Lord of the Rings Online?

I can understand the economics of subscription but why not make it a sliding scale? For people who are not crafters or who don't like to go through the whole PvE scenarios then by all means charge full price. For others who contribute to making the online experience good for all players then lesser charges are fairer.

Exactly the point I am trying to make. It's pretty high actually. The are expecting us to pay $60 + $180 a year +Microtransactions. Not going to happen guys.

    $180 a year, not $1800.

But yeah I've never been big on subscriptions to begin with and now with the whole micro-transaction garbage I'm not touching this game even with a long stick.

That was a typo. I fixed it now. WHat were they thinking when they were coming up with a subscription plan. Didn't they learn something from games like Tera, Star Wars: The Old Republic and The Secret Wolrd?

Wel let's see... WoW and Star Wars are now F2P. You can subcribe for prwmium content and to boost your characters playabilitywhich seems to be working well for them. With ESO asking for $60 for the game as well as Subscription and micro trasactions you would be looking at $180+ dollars a year in the first year of play. I am an Elder Scrolls fan since Dagger Fall and love the game and it's world. However with the current economy and my personal job situation I can't quualify $75 dollars for the first month and then $15-$60 dollars a month to play a game when there are so many other games that have excellent quality and playability. ESO you just lost a potential player due to your greed.

I was certainly going to get this game if it didn't have a subscription. But now I'm not sure.
Paying an amount every month is quite heavy on my wallet. I rather pay once and be done with it.
If people will pay this monthly fee depends on ESO itself really. If it's as great as it looks it is, it's probably worth it.

Well I trust Bethesda they are a solid gaming company if it was another company like EA for example I would say screw the game, but I still plan on buying the game anyway 15 bucks a month is not bad.

Just post this thing on their blog as well. Maybe then they will comprehend how pissed off their fanbase is.
