Is Guild Wars 2 release date inconvenient?

    The summer is the best time to play a video game. But as high school and college resumes. This is bad news. Do you think that this release date of August 28th will affect sales?

    I don't think so. A lot of people pre-purchased and pre-ordered already (just look at the number of players during BWEs and stress tests). The hype is so high atm that I think many people will buy it anyway.

    bad news for high school and college maybe, but not to yours Guild Wars 2 character :)

    As it was already mentioned, I doubt that from the sales point of view this is bad, only the players early activity may be limited by the release right before September.

    They're looking for stability in playtime, they don't want to inflate their numbers by having 3 months of huge player base and then a sudden drop.

    I have a friend that is definitely holding off on playing the game because he wants to make sure his senior year starts off well and he has his priorities straight. While that's only one person, it does illustrate that this release date may be a little inconvenient for some folks.

    However, will I think it affect the long-term growth and population of GW2? Nope. I fully anticipate GW2 to be here for the long haul and to be a massively popular game to boot. People won't avoid the game indefinitely just because of their studies...if they avoid it in the first place. I don't expect every single student to have the same kind of sensibilities as my friend. ^^

    Well Aug. 25 is a Saturday, so thats nice. But yes I don't really find the launch date inconvenient but more of that fact that I won't get any playing during the time free I have over summer break. I'm going to be a senior at highschool next year and it's going to be a hell of a run trying to manage first year college courses and trying to keep up in Gw2.

    However, I think the date is rather irrelavant for those that are above 21+ , especially those in there 30 and I know a huge amount of them.. they like to call themselves.. "mmo vets" :3 silly dem.

    I agree that the timing is inconvenient, but I guess I prefer that the game be complete before it's released.

    I would have gotten much more playing time if the release happened earlier in the summer.

    It's fairly convenient for me, though I can understand why it'd be inconvenient with schools starting back in early September, etc. At the end of the day though, if someone really wants to play it, they'll find time to play it.

    Personally not in school at the moment, 30 years old so no biggie for me :)

    In fact summer is worse for me because of family vacations, outdoor yard work, being out and about. Where as winter is much much better because there is literally nothing else to do.
