Is it the kind of game that I should play the original first?

Being on PS3, I don't have access to Metro 2033. Will this effect me playing Last Light? (Ex: Wtf is going on!?)

you would obviously enjoy the story more if you played the first one. you could try playing the first one on pc, if you don;t have a good pc you could get the OnLive version that streams through the internet, or you could watch a playthrough on youtube.

With any sequel like the Unchartered series for example there is always a storyline which continues. But it's a good question which you can leave for the devs in the sticky.

In terms of amo currency, bullets, gas masks, stealth approaches and attacking different demons like the Liberians I'm guessing that they will be explained again for new comers.

    Alright, thanks. :)

Christmas comes before Last Light, so who knows? Maybe I'll get a 360 and 2033. ;)

Why not stream it from the likes of services like OnLive, streammygame or gaikai. They should have the game which you can try out the demo on the most basic of laptops or PC's?

That's the great thing about streaming services your laptop doesn't have to be top spec.

If you have a minimum 3Mb connection speed then that is all that matters. If you have a Fair Use Policy with your service provider then streaming the full game will eat it all up.

I've streamed games onto a tablet and they've worked fine.

Definitely recommend the first one, both for story (as the main character is the same in Last Light), and for sheer epicness. See if one of your friends wants a free 360 game, buy it for them, and play it on their machine. :)
