If you have already played the game, you know that there are some recognizable similarities between these tow games. How similar do you think this game is to Dark Souls?
Outside of the initial appearance of the game, this game actually isn't like the Souls series very much. That's something the media has been latching onto since this game was shown. And it's gotten unfairly labeled as such ever since.
I've been reading some reviews of the game (and watched some videos) and I have to agree with thepieeatingjay, that it isn't so similar to Dark Souls. I haven't played it for myself, but as far as I can tell from the reviews, people throw these kind of claims right out of the window as soon as they try to play the game for themselves.
I don't know, it really is almost a dark souls clone but I don't say that in a bad way, it really is inspired, down to the bonfires and flasks.
I can see they did take a lot of inspiration from Dark Souls, but I won't say it's a pure copy. It has a lot of nice mechanics, and I like the controls more than Dark Souls 1 and 2. For me it even runs smoother. I wouldn't say it's a copy, it's more like how Battlefield is to Counterstrike.
I've noticed the similarities between the two games but I can't really say it's a bad thing. There were loads of people who enjoyed Dark Souls, which means lots of people can familiarize with it on other games. I think, rather than being a copy, it was more or less in someway inspired by parts of Dark Souls.
I haven't played it yet but from videos and reviews I can say that it is similar to Dark Souls as much as Dark Souls itself is similar to the Devil May Cry series or Darksiders. It's just the same genre and as such, they're bound to share some mechanics or just ideas. The most striking resemblance I see is the pacing of the combat in the two games. As I said, Devil May Cry is technically a similar game but the pacing there is way too fast and chaotic compared to Lords of the Fallen or Dark Souls, where you use more strategy and tactics behind your moves.
