Recently I've seen a lack in creativity and posts on Planet Minecraft "Hot" tab in the projects section, and it got me wondering if Minecraft was really dying as a community not so much because of the Projects, but in general, most friends I know that have played Minecraft has moved on from the game, the only friends that still play is my friends that happen to be YouTube content creators and their channels rely solely on Minecraft content. Share your opinions about the matter below, I would love to know what you think.

A lot of people move away from the game after a while because it's made for a younger audience, although I've stayed with it and I've been busy running a server that doesn't suck. The problem with the younger audience is that most of them don't bother to make anything really interesting, which means all the great things in the game, and most of the community, are the people that stayed with the game much longer than most people do.

A lot are also moving away because there's not too much else that I can think that they can add to the game and make it exciting again. I wasn't excited about the End, because I went through a lot of that with the Nether, and it requires even more grinding to get to The End. A lot of the new features in the game seem to require more time than what they've added previously, if that makes sense. Potions take a lot more time to make, to me, than enchantments do, for example.

The Minecraft community is a juggernaut and it's going to have its highs and lows. I'd say the community is growing rather than dying. If it is dying, then it's got millions of legs to stand on before it's gone for good.

I think not. There are still many people are playing minecraft. Since there was a new update like 1.8 many people are starting to play it again. And also there are many famous minecraft youtubers so I think it will not die.

I don't really know after Minecraft was taken over by Microsoft. It depends on what people will start to honk about the improvements to the game. Who knows what'll happen. We will just have to wait and see.

What happens with any community is that as it gets bigger, the people become less friendly because what one person says doesn't mean as much.

If you look at some old games or some HL2 mod that 5 people play, those 5 people are going to be some of the nicest people in the gaming community.

Outside of the servers I think it's sort of happening. It's not a full exodus or anything but I think that the popularity is just dying down a little bit. Once you get through the main game most people never return to the worlds. I still have one I play on but I'm not a regular in Gallifrey anymore. The online servers are still popular enough. Maybe Microsoft can revamp and publicize it so more new players can come in and easily join. We'll see. I think the popularity is dying but not really the community.

The Minecraft community consists of about 12 million players. Any game that has a large community of players will bound to have its ups and downs, peaks and such and such. A lot of people complain about Minecraft and a lot of people have seen some drama in the Bukkit/Mojang universe, but ultimately, those are small pockets of people with a strong sense of blah blah blah. In the end, for big communities to lose 1-3 million players is a given. When the community dwindles down to less than 2 million in scale to its peak and average, is when I can safely say it's dying then.
