I'm sure all of you have heard of Kickstarter. It's one of the best sites to get funding for your project(s) and I am glad there's a site like it. Now I wouldn't be able to come up with something worthy to get money for on this site, but I know there's many developers and other people out there using this site.

What I want to ask is this, does kickstarter truly work for those developers? I haven't seen any game come out yet after they met their goals. I know some are coming out soon, but will they?

I adore kickstarter. Kickstarter and I think indiegogo ( I think that's the other crowd funding site that indie developers use) are both great sites to fund games. I haven't played any of the funded games that have been released, but I'm going to play some as soon as I can. This is how gaming should be, fund the games you want. The money goes to the developers and not the publishers, what more can you ask for.

I respect what developers can do when they don't have the limitations from publishers pushing them to ship a game out sooner than later.

There's some pretty good game idea's on Kickstarter. I helped kickstart one called Takedown which is a tactical first person shooter. It's been a long time but it should be out later this year :) If I had more money I would definitely help kickstart some other games and projects.

It's great for kickstarters looking for some funds and support but now a days I hate it when the big companies are starting to exploit it for their own gain.

I really believe kickstarter should add in some guidelines and control the number of celebrities trying to use it for their own gain.

It's great for the developers, basically they get to sell their game even before they developed it. I love the system, haven't participated in kickstarting a single game yet but I will probably do that in the future.

Great idea when not abused. Look at the OUYA, a homebrewed console got funded through kickstarter, now you can walk into your local gamestop, best buy, etc, and pick one up for a measly $99.99. :)

We should make a thread on here for cool kickstarter projects, and post whenever we see a good one!

I wonder if people are going to start to sour on kickstarter when a lot of the projects fail. Look at how bad ouya turned out. Just look up youtube videos about it. There's a lot of disappointed fan boys out there. To think, if we had a fair economic system we wouldn't have to beg rich people for start-up funds. When there is justice there will be no need for charity.

You don't see any games that will take over the industry but you do see some decent games funded through kickstarter. I hear there's a kickstarter funded game called Camelot Unchained that made $2.2 million and a lot of people seem to be looking out for it. The whole crowd funding concept is fairly new and not everyone hits their targets on kickstarter but its still a pretty cool, people empowering operation.

I didn't realise the ouya flopped so badly? I heard it wasn't great and there were problems at launch, but is it really that bad?
