A quote from Tetsuya Nomura, the man behind Kingdom Hearts: The series that has developed so far as “the Xehanort saga” should end once and for all in KH3. However, I’ve outlined a tentative plot that takes place afterward, so we could continue onto a new chapter. Sora would remain the main character; that wouldn’t change. That's from an old interview. So what do you guys think? Nomura seems to have no intention of ending the series after Kingdom Hearts 3. With Xehanort gone, what villain can they come up with next? I think it's hard to come up with someone that can match Xehanort.
Nobody here yet But I heard rumours about how the future games will give us a different protagonist instead of Sora. But Nomura has already stated that Sora would remain the "main character", so what exactly does that mean when we don't actually get to play as him? But it's a good change! It's great that we can get more of the story from a different perspective.
Well, if it's indeed true then it's great in some way. It's about time we get to see a different protagonist other than Sora. I know that leaving Sora seems sad especially after investing in him for so long. It's already so many games so I don't mind we get someone different for a change.
If KH3 is the end of the saga I wouldn't mind as long as it wraps up the story and is fun! I also agree making a new protagonist could add more excitement to the series.
The thing with Kingdom Hearts is the new game always seem to take so long for it to be finally release >_> It would be nice if Kingdom Hearts 3 is the last game of the series, and things can be wrapped up nicely and go out with a bang......but Nomura stated it's only the ending for "Xehanort Saga", which means there's still more to the story......I don't know whether to be happy or not
Xehanort has a loooot of buildup. His name isn't even really mentioned until the second game, and when it is, it is mostly in passing. In KH3 he'll likely be the final boss, and I honestly don't know where the series would go from there. Isn't defeating him basically the only thing that's left? We'll have to see.
If KH3 is the last game of that story arc, it would make sense that KH4 wouldn't be released until years later, maybe even one of the last games on ps4. But this is good as it would give the developers a good amount of time to make a perfect game as well as giving gamers a healthy break from the series.
I am so excited for Kingdom Hearts 3! I hope they end this story arc well and wrap up loose ends with sora and kairi's story!
I think it is okay for them to end it here. The story line has been great and so has the game play. I am hoping to see Sora as an easter egg in future games.
To be fair, if a Kingdom Hearts 4 was even thought up, it would take them more than a decade to get the game out anyways.
At the rate they're going with the franchise I'll be like 50 before they complete the entire saga. It'd be nice to have a game released like every 3 years or so.
I don't know if this is me being selfish, but I want Kingdom Hearts III to be the last of the bigger console games. I like the idea of continued stories and the like on a handheld device or something of that nature that can fill plot-holes, etc. However, I think a fourth main big game will probably end up hitting a dead horse whenever it comes out. Right now, Square Enix and Disney are striking while the iron's hot. That may not be the case in the future.
I am excited to see how they wrap up the Xehanort Saga and what they think of next. I am just glad the series isn't ending with Kingdom Hearts 3.
