Largest/most interesting construction project?

    Hey everyone,

I'm just curious what everyone has built in the game. I first got into it by watching some youtube videos online from a guy called DavidX, and he had all sorts of construction ideas that kept him going. First it was a tower, then a mission to dig to the bed rock layer of the world, etc.

For me it has to be my iron golem farm. Its just a three-level farm with villagers trapped in little cubicles, but there are enough of them, and enough doors, such that iron golems are spawned. Then the water pushes them into a central area...after a while I see like 15 iron golems trapped in a little glass enclosure :).

Then I turn on the switch and lava flows in where they die, and then I get like 64+ iron bars that I can use to make as much iron armor and weapons as I want.

The other construction project I did was a massive sky-bridge from my base to another village. This happened before the iron golem farm actually, because I needed the villagers first and had no other source for them nearby. Why the sky bridge? Well basically after sleeping in my basement and finding zombies appear out of nowhere, wake me up, and attack me, I was scared to death and decided I would build in the safety of the sky where I was sure there were no dark pockets or places to spawn.

So anyway its like several kilometers long if I had to guess...anyway once I get there I have all my villagers corralled into this nice little area. Whenever I need a few more villagers (for new trades perhaps), I 'dispense' them by pressing a button to let a few out. Then they naturally climb up a very long tower, and with a series of water channels get pushed *all the way back* to my base. And then I did a very long series of mid-air tunnels to push them into their cubicles. Presto, golem farm complete.

Now I'm in the middle of expanding a very, very massive mob farm to give me all the resources I need. Its tough to get the spawning conditions/distances just right.

I've never really made any major creations, just some small scale towns and villages. My creative abilities aren't amazing in Minecraft, compared to some of the videos I've seen online. The best thing I've ever seen built was a massive City of Atlantis recreation. It was amazing what the team was able to create and their texture pack really made it a lot more authentic looking.

As I start to learn some strategies to Minecraft, I'm starting to look into iron farming, like you mentioned above with the iron golems. Sounds like a great way to get some iron quick!

Full scale TARDIS from Doctor Who built by me and a couple friends. We made over 100 rooms inside of a giant blue box with the center console and everything. We even added the tennis courts and swimming pool.

Personally my biggest project was an underwater glass railway between two islands. This was about 2/3 years ago, so before it was easy to do this sort of thing. I was very proud of it, and only wished there were more underwater mobs to make the view more exciting.

How did you manage to remove the water after you placed the glass? did you just use buckets?

I'd also like to know because I'm trying to make something similar underwater.

I don't even wanna ask how long it took to make all of that. That is some heavy lifting building right there.

It took forever! What I did was build a solid dirt tunnel from point A to point B, I then proceeded to hollow it out and replace the outer layer of dirt with Glass.
As I said it took very very very long, was worth it though :)
