I'm curious, as I play both, but started with Dota 2. What do you guys (who started with League) think of Dota 2, and would you consider playing it? What do you think are the advantages of League compared to Dota?

Having been primarily a DotA player (moving to Heroes of Newerth and then DOTA 2), I made fun of League of Legends for the longest time. To be fair the game was fairly unpolished and the gameplay felt bland compared to what it is now, however playing with friends during season 1 I realized I just had a misinformed opinion, and incredibly biased.

As a League of Legends player mostly now, I came to realize that while DOTA 2 certainly has more depth, it also takes longer and you've got to commit to playing not just a long game, but a game where it can feel stall for the first 8 minutes, and then so volatile the next 5 minutes. I still think it's an incredible game but the progression of it wasn't so appealing once I became busier and busier.

I'm a League player and I played DotA 2 for fun for a while. I like it, it's fun and the champions/skills/kits are entertaining and different. DotA is a lot more complex than League of Legends and I can say that the higher difficulty can be felt. The heroes require more mechanics than the champions in League of Legends do, but the rewards are bigger.

Already played it a couple of times and my main opinion is that: it's slower and the graphics are way more dark. It's cool, and very similar, but I prefer LoL, I'm already used to it.

I got to try Dota 1 once or twice way way back so I do have an appreciation for the title. I haven't gotten to try out this newer version though but from what I have seen I do think I'd like it if or when I decide to try it out. I actually also prefer the graphics but for now I'm just enjoying league first.

Started with DotA 2, still play both. For me DotA is much more mechanical and high skill. The availability of all heroes (champions) is also great!

Well aside from hero availability, I do like Dota's gameplay over League since you get to lose gold whenever you die in Dota but not in League so you need to be very careful since some of your hard earned gold would vanish once you die. The reason why I say it's hard earned is because your enemies can deny the creeps which would result in a harder accumulation of gold and experience. That's why Dota players are sometimes more disciplined than league players.
