Were you ever lost and without-a-clue when you got started on EVE? If so, share your stories! I certainly have a great deal that I could share and I'd love to see that I'm not alone.

I have not played the game, but if I did I am sure it would not be to difficult because I am one of those players that read all the tutorials to learn how things operate only thing I can see that I might struggle with is if the game doesn't tell you where the mobs you need to kill because I am horrible with directions.

Yes, after years of watching my friends play this game I decided to try out the trial since it seemed to have lots of depth.

Little did I understand just how much depth was there. Before I knew it I was drowning in controls and information that I had know idea what to do with. No amount of googling and tutoring could really prepare me for a game like that. It's basically just spreadsheets with spaceships.

Not interested. The learning curve is probably the highest of any game out there.

I was extremely lost when I first started playing EVE Online. I dare to say that the learning curve for the game is the highest ever among MMO games, maybe among all games. It took me a good two weeks to understand some of the game's basic concepts.

The community was pretty helpful when I joined. I think there was a chat channel called "EVE University" and a group people me along with some other newbies along for PvE missions. Once you understand the mechanics of the game though, there's the whole economy and corporations aspect of the game to explore.

As others have mentioned, there is a lot of depth in EVE Online. However, there are many different professions that you can try out (the tutorials help a lot with introducing you to them) and after you pick a few that you like, you can specialize your skill training to fit those professions. Focusing on one thing to practice on will give you much better results than trying to learn everything at once because that way you won't be overwhelmed.

As scout01 stated, there are many corporations out there that are willing to help new players get onto their feet. Some of them follow a "get in, learn, then leave" policy, so make sure you're ready to leave when you have to for those corporations.
