Leaving Friends Behind

    How do you guys feel about leaving friends behind? I mean this in the sense of moving on to a new stage of your life, forcing you to leave some of your best buddies behind? This completely changes the social fabric you form with a group of friends, as you'll be seeing them much less often.

    I ask this because I am going back to college in a couple week, but two of my best buddies are leaving early tomorrow morning. I'm going to miss them, but time goes on. Is it a sad thing, or is it simply a change in the way you operate your life?

    This is my fourth go around in college, but this was the most weird summer for my core group of friends and I. Jobs and travel had interdicted, and we haven't gotten to hang out nearly as much. This leaves me with a feeling of emptiness.

    Sure I'll be able to get some more work hours in before school, I'll be able to write more of my novel, and I'll get into the gym over the next couple of weeks, but it won't be the same without hanging out with my buddies after a strenuous night of work or writer's block.

    Thoughts?

    Life's harsh,sometimes we got to choose what our priority is.

    Personally,i think that i will leave my country and go live somewhere else,and i'm quite sure that none of my friends is gonna follow me.

    unfortunately that is life. that said, I still got a very good couple of friends from uni, just one I'm still in touch from my chilhood.

    it's hard, but we adapt. life keeps us busy and we form new relationships, but if friendships are true, the last for life. one of my uni friend's, I can go without seeing her or talking to her for years, yet, when we both get on the phone, it seems like no time has passed at all, and she lives in spain and I live in england.

    Yeah, it happens. I've fallen out of touch with some of my best friends. If we ever meet again, I don't know what will happen. :)

    Leaving friends behind is always tough and sad.More so if you're leaving your only best friend,someone you grew up with and shared countless hours of fun,sadness and hapiness.Yeah,that sucks...

    Two of my best friend have also left just now. One of them just moved to Copenhagen, I could get there quite easily, perhapse in an hour or two, but I won't see him nearly as much now. The other went to England, and though I'm planning to visit him, it's still quite sad. So, yeah, I feel you :(

    I had a friend for many years, from my first year of life. In Seventh grade, he moved to some other city and abandoned the religion he was with. (He and I was with the same religion). Either way, we visited each other now and then, but we just lost more and more contact. I sometimes ponder about the good old times, and miss them. Now, in Eleventh grade, I do still have my three other best friends, and I've made a ton of new friends and am still going to make more. Even got a girlfriend about a year ago. Friends come and go. If you truly know when to think about the future, when to think about the past, and when to think about the present, you'll be a happy man. Emotional, but happy.

    Talking about friends,too bad we can't have a "Metro Meet-up" somewhere! :(

    Actually, there are quite a few europeans on here. And when LL is released there will hopefully be even more members, so it's not impossible :)
