I think it would be nice to have a zombie MMORPG based on Left 4 Dead, but also take some elements from The walking Dead.

People can play as either humans, or zombies.
Humans can start in zombie infested towns. Players can choose to solo or join groups to form clans. Different clans can battle each other for safe houses and resources. So there should be plenty of PvP. As for PvE, there are countless regular zombies and some mutated super zombies as bosses. Actions will be plenty.

As for zombie players, they can choose to be one of the special zombies. They can also form mobs to attack human players.

It will be an endless struggle between human survivors, and zombies.

    What do you guys think?
Is there any good idea to add? :)

Not sure if it would work as a MMORPG, probably better as a team combat game. CoD with 50% more rotting...

MMORPGs need more monster diversity and more substantial character development.

Actually I disagree with the part where character development is a must.
You are thinking about leveling up, aren't you? In fact, I am sick tired of leveling up (or rather grinding) in most MMORPGs. It is mindless killing the same mobs over and over. I'd rather have a MMORPG where people can just have fun from the beginning instead of having to reach certain "level" or obtain certain "gears" through the endless killing in order to just have a little fun.

While I agree some MMORPGs set in ancient times might be still good with leveling up, but a first person shooting based MMORPG has no such need. Basically you just have counter-strike in a MMORPG setting, plus zombies. I don't see why not. Even some of the counter-strike servers had a zombie mod.

I remember there was also this Resident Evil outbreak based MMO. Although it was third person if i am correct. I believe first person shooting makes things a lot more fun.

If you combine the first and second left for dead you have a pretty good selection of zombies.
    Witch
    Hunter
    Boomer
    Jockey
    Tank
    Charger
    Smoker
    Spitter
then you have your typical fast running zombies
To make it better you need a bigger map for free roam.
Things that would make it better
Bosses where different specials combined together with regular zombies to create a colossal zombie of awfulness.
Add in rabid animals of all sizes and types
    Make quests
Give it a build station where you can build weapons like in Dead Rising.
I mean it is possible it is going to take work though. I would play it for sure.

Hmm, that would be an interesting idea for a MMORPG but I'm not really sure how it would work out. People can choose to either be zombies or humans but how would character development go? I guess having clans is one thing.

I think character development based on "level" is overrated. Why not just let the player's personal skills as the development? Obviously newbies will be less skillful, and the players who have played for a long time would be more experienced and powerful.

Too many MMORPGs are letting the leveling up part get in the way of the fun. I'd rather just join the game and start shooting. :D

Yes, clans should be formed. Think about The Walking Dead. Human survivors of zombie apocalypses form their own groups, and they not only had to fight the zombies, but they also had to fight against other surviving groups for various reasons.

That could be an interesting idea but players like to see progression so if they don't get any levels they lose motivation to play, especially in MMORPGs. Gameplay translates more into combat after that.

I do not see people lose the "motivation" to play Counter-Strike, Teamfortress, Day of Defeat, or Battlefield 1942, BF2, BF3, BF4 just because there is not a true leveling system. Sure you can earn "ranks" in BF series since BF2, but it has nothing to do with how strong your character is.

I agree that leveling up and build a unique character is fun in Neverwinter Nights when I played it. Most MMORPG however, the character development is not so "unique". There are on so few classes, and each class end up the exactly same. The leveling up is nothing more than grinding for most MMORPGs, which I found lack of interesting ways to accomplish it.

I don`t think Left4Dead really needs an MMO version. The game is already totally focused towards 4 player Co-Op. What more do you want?

I think it would be great. Not only do you have a good amount of variety in the human characters but you also have distinguishable qualities and variations in the zombies as well. If they made one they could probably even add more categories.

I want a giant world to explore.
I want the freedom of go anywhere I wish.
I want larger scale battles against zombies.
I want clan wars (group of humans vs humans) in a world of zombie apocalypse.

A lot of players will probably use zombies (drag huge groups of them) to against enemy groups. :)

Zombie MMO would be pretty sweet, I still don't think anyone has done it right yet. It need to happen in waves, almost simulating what would happen over 5 years, ya know?

Nobody said leveling up. Ultima Online has been going for 18 years without leveling zones. And while it is fun to daydream, a game without character advancement gets boring fast. Even in single player games that have 20 hours of playtime you need character advancement. Heck, even 20 minute LOL games need character advancement within the game.

Why not try out games like Dying Light, then? It is basically Skyrim with Zombies. :D

Why does it (character development) have to be leveling up?
While I said leveling up is not needed, I did not say absolutely zero character development.

Isn't your personal experience a character development? Knowing how to deal with different kind of zombies the most efficient ways?
Isn't knowing the routes in and out better in a city a character development? It is an advantage over newer players for sure.
Isn't the gathering of resources a character development? For example, finding better equipment, weapons, supplies. And build up your personal stronghold / hideout.

    I have never played either.

I think that I agree with those that are saying that they probably do not really need one. It seems that they are content with that they have and nobody is really clamoring for it. Might be interesting, though.

I think this is a cool idea. And MMORPG on such concept can be good. Nobody has tried that in past. And people should definitely try it if they are curious about the gaming and the experience of the MMORPGs.
