So I've played LOL for a while now, really like the game. But a friend of mine went to DOTA a while back and says its awesome. I don't really want to start a game over again if it is going to be so similar to LOL.

So, my question is, how similar is DOTA to LOL, and which one (in your opinion) is better?

Dota and LoL is fundamentally similar. Dota pioneered this kind of game, and I played both too. Sorry LoL fan, Dota takes the win.

Dota definitely has deeper mechanic, a higher skill cap and for me, the only similarity is the map. How you play it is completely different. I'd have to go for Dota too.
