I was looking inside an old disk full of ancient PC games when I found this jewel. Did you ever play it? I totally recommend it. It has hilarious and entertaining story line and characters. If you liked the first Maniac Mansion, you're gonna love this one.

I love this game!!! It's honestly one of my all time favourite, of all time.

I'm very happy to report that Double Fine is currently remastering it and it will be released early 2016. I'm so stoked for this... the voice acting (if you got that version) was superb, the game is funny and very well done AND you can actually play the original Maniac Mansion within the game.

Along with Sam & Max, Full Throttle, Loom, Grim Fandango... This game is a LucasArts adventure game masterpiece. I simply cannot recommend it enough.

I'm 100% with you! I love that they remastered the Monkey Island games, then Grim Fandango and now Day of the Tentacle. I think I heard that they may be remastering Full Throttle too, which would be fantastic. Honestly, those adventure games are so good, I'm glad they're seeing a rise in popularity again. :)

I have not, but as a long-time fan of Maniac Mansion I've always wanted to give it a whirl. I love the look of the tentacles. They're so well-designed. Like that it has Bernard as the main dude, as well - the other characters of Maniac Mansion all seemed kind of generic by comparison.

You have no idea happy I am right now. I never thought there would be a Maniac Mansion II. The last time I played Maniac Mansion I was 6 months ago (my Nintendo pin cartage needs replaced now). I was truly trying to blow the house up as many ways as possible. My favorite is with the car, but I am also fond of using the weight machine so you can sneak under the house and blow it from there. I hope you can still blow something up in Maniac Mansion II!

In fairness, Day of the Tentacle has been out for, like, 23 years...

How was I supposed to know that! Do you have any idea how old I suddenly feel? No worries, I do not take my age personally. Of course, the fact that it is so very old might mean I will never obtain a copy. I would give my left leg to play the whole kinds quest series, but alas I can't figure out how or where... this might be like that.

Haha, I feel you, old is some serious word, let's leave it at "experienced". You can always grab a copy out of some abandon ware site, or the "usual places". Or you just could wait for the reissue and buy it, which would be much better.

Do you really think games like kings quest or Maniac Mansion II will have a reissue? If that is the case, I am perfectly happy to wait. You know what, they are making that WOW movie, but what they need to make is a maniac mansion movie.

King's Quest has a new series out by Telltale. No clue how good it is, but Telltale games are usually at least good from a storytelling point of view. As for Maniac Mansion, it is getting a reissue, later this year. Somebody gave more details earlier in the thread.

@SLTE yeah, me, I provided the info :p lol

King's Quest is also, as you mentioned, getting a new series by the amazing Telltale - their Monkey Island series is awesome, as is their Sam & Max one too. They really took the LucasArts stuff and ran with it with amazing results.

Speaking of remastered games, I even found a Maniac Mansion Deluxe Edition on my PC (not sure where I got it). I love when they remaster those old adventure games, I hope they do all of the Indiana Jones ones, as well as Full Throttle

There have been a few fan-made Maniac Mansion reduxes over the years, but I'm pretty sure the one I've tried was the Deluxe Edition you're talking about. As much as I loved the original game, I usually stick to those just so I can tell what I'm looking at at any given time.

This game and the Monkey Island series were some of my favorite games ever. Funny you had this post because I just saw Day of the Tentacle Remake in the steam store and picked it up! I'm so going to burn the rest of this hour and a few more on this now. Cannot wait for the nostalgia and feels to come flowing back. Apparently on my twitter someone said in the remake of day of the tentacle you can play the first one Maniac Mansion in the game as you play. It is in the style of the old game though.
