THQ says a port "could" still happen though

THQ's global brand manager Mark Madsen has said Metro: Last Light is not currently in development for Wii U, but that a port of 4A Games' post-apocalyptic shooter "could" still happen.

Madsen told Digital Spy the game is "not in development" and that "if it does happen, it won't sim-ship with the other SKUs."
Metro: Last Light was one of the core game franchises shown off in a third-party sizzle reel during the initial Wii U reveal at E3 last year.

Madsen insisted that Metro: Last Light's appearance during Nintendo's conference wasn't premature, perhaps suggesting the project was abandoned due to THQ's recent financial woes. In April, the publisher was forced to cut 118 jobs across Darksiders 2 studio Vigil and Company of Heroes dev Relic.

Following the cuts THQ confirmed it was in discussions to pass on publishing duties for Devil's Third, the third-person shooter from Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki, and also delayed Obsidian's South Park RPG into next year.

"No I don't think it was a bit too early [to show Metro: Last Light at E3]," Madsen said. "As we got along in the development process, we just really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC."

Madsen didn't completely rule out a Metro: Last Light release on Wii U though, instead saying it would be considered if "the opportunity arises".

"The verdict is out on what we can do to maximise the code for the Wii U, and we'll see [what happens]."

A new Metro: Last Light preview has just gone live on CVG alongside five fresh screenshots.

Well i dont own Wii, but i still wish they would make LL on it to, because on Wii consoles there are a lot of cases where game follows enterely different story, charackters and places ( like Dead Space Extraction ) so it would be still interesting to play or watch trought youtube enterely different story :)

I like that the technical lead of 4A said it was due to a "Horrible, slow CPU" on the WiiU. REAL TALK.

Yeah, it's what happens when you give the real developers a mic - no PR and marketing crap.

I'm glad he doesn't work for UbiSoft or Activision, who despite the horrible slow CPU managed to create Assassin's Creed and Black Ops II for the Wii U ... REAL WORK

Yeah, because Black Ops and ACIII are THE games that push the current gaming hardware to it's limits...
Please! Black Ops II runs on a single core proccesor and the "new" Anvil (ACIII) engline looks worse than the "old" one used in AC and AC II.

Just like Keegan said - Black Ops II and Assassin's Creed are both games that do not belong to the prettiest games out there and neither of these needs any good tech to run on. Even the PC version of Metro 2033, which is two years older, requires a whole lot more power than most games out today. Now imagine Last Light, an even newer game made by the same developer. Imagine what it will be like, then imagine how hard it must be to get a watered down version of it running on the WiiU when 4A Games has much less money and only 80 employees, when compared to the 250 people working at Treyarch (with 4000 at Activision) or the 2100 employees at Ubisoft Montreal (with 6927 at the whole of Ubisoft). Also remember the fact that THQ is going bankrupt and they are 4A Games' only source of income, whilst both Activision and Ubisoft belong to some of the biggest, most successful and financially stable corporations out there in the gaming industry right now.

You shouldn't be surprised that 4A Games can't release Last Light on the WiiU... you should be astonished how they can release games with some of the best graphics ever made, whilst Ubisoft and Activision cannot.

OK, so that's your opinion ... and I've got mine.
I don't want a 'prettiest game', I want a playable game. For the record, Metro 2033 runs fine on my 6 yr. old PC with a 2300Mhz cpu and only 2 GB, which IMHO is not 'a whole lot of power that games out today need'.
    Just sayin' ...

    EDIT:
SPOnG: The Wii U version is obviously not being worked on anymore. How far did you guys get on it before you cancelled it? Did you guys have an opportunity to use the GamePad?

Huw Benyon: Our look at the Wii U extended to a very early look at some very early kits. We...we did some work on it, but we made a decision fairly early on that we weren’t going to commit further resource to it. So yeah, we didn’t go too far. Take any of the comments you’ve seen attributed with a pinch of salt - it’s certainly not been based on any kind of analysis of final hardware.

I don't see where I say that I want a "prettier game" over a "playable game" and I don't see how that defeats any of the arguments that have been stated against yours by me and others. I don't care that your old PC may be able to run Metro 2033 on the lowest settings and/or on the lowest resolution. I was only pointing out how stupid your argument was. That's all.
