Hey, i came across a similar thread in the Arma 3 forums and i thought it would be good for people to put their ideas and wishes for Metro: Last Light here if they wanted to without it getting lost in conversations, tangents and opinions thrown around. Perhaps we can get a good idea of what players would really like to see and help 4A dev's make some decisions about the direction they take. Put your idea down if you want even if others have already posted the same.

To have a discussion about something, please create another thread and discuss it there.

Hope this is ok with the moderators.

=====================================================
My wish list...

-Adding in a little acceleration to stopping and starting movement for PC users
-Lowering walking movement speed or making it editable in the .ini files. I think walking in a game is a very underrated technique to creat more immersion when playing a game (maybe less so for console users sitting farther away from their screens). If you think about it, we walk 99% of the time in our lives and i think it makes sense that walking in a video game and having things pass at a slower pace might tell your brain that what you are seeing is more real than seeing it go by faster. This is certainly my experience, but I only really walk when the environment in a game is really nice looking, not everywhere. (in 2033, i walk frequently :) by crouching though...)

-A little (very subtle) head bob, with step sounds and gun movement all matching.
-Have NPCs like Bourbon not walk so fast and stop to comment more and tell a good story.
-Use NPC's as a way to create more tension, make them afraid (I think Bourbon was after Bandits) but maybe make
them really stop and look around at a couple point before they continue on.
-More NPC interaction and dialogue (like in Chronicles of Riddick: Butcher Bay/Mass Effect)
-More exploration and/or longer paths between action
-More varied voice actors with more experienced voice actors (IMO, the Kid especially was not convincing in English)
-Add mystery about the world and the tunnels and what lives in them, how expansive they really are giving the player some hint at other tunnels beyond the main ones or some story about something big and scary seen in one of the dark/far tunnels.
- Have NPC conversations not all start at once (option maybe, since consolers will run through quicker and
might not stick around to hear each conversation).
-Speaking of options...More graphics options like graphical options in the main menu or .ini file. (I really wanted to use the Very
High, but didn't like the blurring, for example.)
-On screen graphical configuration so you can see whats changing.
-Developer commentary mode.

Well it's hard to say, because I believe that the developer team will make it exactly so good I want it, with all the stuff I would want, no more no less.
But it's a really good thread you've got here, just need to promote it. ;)

• A head bob SLIDER; Head bob is not something you notice with your own eyes, because you compensate for your body movement - this is something the makers of Brink realised when considering it during the parkour action. For that reason, while I'm not opposed to people having the option, I want the option to turn head bob off.
• Keep the original theme of weaponry - that is, jury-rigged and home-made. I wouldn't necessarily object to seeing some of the Rangers with slightly newer kit seeing as they're holding D6, which appeared to have floors full of military vehicles and equipment; but everyone else should be using the same old crap as before. Personally, I also don't like the idea of a minigun but I'll live.
• Selectable knife - The shift towards the 'quick-knife' in games annoys the hell out of me. I don't care if they add a melee button which uses the stock (only on weapons which actually have wooden stocks, or you'd risk breaking the weapon), but you don't use a knife at that speed, and so drawing the knife should be a conscious action with benefits, but also significant consequences; the quick-knife removes consequences altogether.
• Proper animations depending on which kit you're wearing - If you're wearing the Ranger armour, the gas mask is in the helmet, it's not something you put on over your head anymore like the animation suggests. Also, proper filter animations should be made for these helmets.
• Mutants should vary depending on location. New mutants are fine, but they should remain in certain areas and not suddenly become as widespread as Nosalises; continuity is key. Also, the balance of mutants to humans in terms of campaign time spent dealing with each should remain the same as from Metro 2033, this isn't a horror game, so more time with the monsters isn't necessary.
• People in the metro (NPCs) should actually make you give a damn about them. I like that people who have no reason to speak to you, don't, but at the same time I'd like people to make more observations about the strange armed guy walking past, or tell more emotional stories which the player can overhear. Also, more optional 'moral' tasks which aren't located by the map. Getting the 'DJ Artyom' achievement was satisfying because the map didn't help you find it, and it was easily missed. These sort of things should continue, and not be lost in the inevitable 'dumbing down'.
• We definitely need advanced graphics sliders - and whatever it is which makes turning vsync on double your framerate needs to be fixed when vsync is off. Metro 2033 isn't even half as resource-hungry as people think, it's just some poorly optimised thing running in the background when vsync is off which makes it use an extra 500mb Vram on max.

..that's just off the top of my head.

Probably because you've named most of it :D
But i can add a few more ;)
I dont think i need to mention the stealth problems.
So here is the things I want:
More exploration in the stations, the tunnels can remain the same for story telling.
Custable weapons, that is most likley going to the game anyway:)
Different gasmask, atleast visually.
Also.

This song maby on a radio or something.
Some things I want to be unchanged:
Like the gunmechanics, thoug some jamming would be nice.
The ammo currency.
The health system, maybe a little tweaking on the lower difficulties.
Clearer moral points and dialogs, sometimes you miss them becasue you didn't know they where there.

Well there you have it.

*edit: hehe while I was typing to respond, you two responded while i typed :D

--Option for real AA in the PC version. I noticed the MSAA in Metro blurrs the image. Normal MSAA doesn't blur, so maybe its the "analytical AA" described below the options being applied. Either way, any blur not good when your limited to 1280x720 due to HDMI limitations for 3D.

--A good quality, optional flashback to the Metro 2033 story and events in the New Game menu, bringing new players up to speed on the story line ( and perhaps getting some more sales from Metro 2033, also high resolution to show off the graphics ) Dead Space 2 did this really well. I'll post a link in a sec when i can find a video of it. Edit: here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtKGYIy0X7s

ADS lock/toggle.

I hate having to hold the mouse button to zoom/aim.

-Underground waterfalls
-Abandoned mining areas - long abandoned due to increased radiation found in deep parts (new mutants)

-D6 half as big as Black Mesa
