Does Terraria count? I think it does. If it does, then I can say that it's really good. Really enjoyable game, moreso with friends than on your own. The world bosses are very challenging, but the building and creating armour and weapons is a lot of fun. I still enjoy just creating stuff on that. Currently building a bottom of the world lair!

I think it is a worth a buy, whether playing on your own or with friends, it's still an incredibly fun game. However, it has quite the difficulty curve, so be prepared on your first night if you get it. Keep in mind it has no peaceful mode like Minecraft does. Monsters come at night and they can be pretty rough on the first night if you aren't prepared. I recommend giving it a go. As for how it compares to lets-plays, I have seen some very fun lets-plays and I have had the same level of fun playing it myself!

I'd also say Terraria. I own it on my PS3 (it was a fun purchase as I had too much money on my PSN account lol) and I used to like it. The first few days will be boring, but as soon as you got better stuff etc. you'll like the game.

Even though it's already been said, Terraria. It just looks like it takes most, if not all, of its inspiration from Minecraft. You can build houses, mine for minerals, and fight crazy monsters. The only major difference would be that its in a two-dimensional world.

There are some others, like Trion's upcoming Trove game, Cube World (which is abandoned as far as I know, but there is a working alpha version).

    I think Terraria should count!

It's very similar to Minecraft in that it's focused on building....and possible threats. They each have other features, but ultimately, that's what both games come down to, so they're very close to the same style of game, even though they look totally different.

In which case, yes, I have played others and recommend trying out Terraria, too. :)

Terraria has a more strong focus on character progression and adventuring than creative building, in my opinion. This makes it too different from MC to call it a similar game.

There are a bunch of knock off games on the Google Play store, and I have downloaded a couple. They're alright, fun but not the real deal. One of these days I need to give in and buy the real one.

Try Brickforce. It's essentially a minecraft knockoff except with functional guns. It's a FPS but with minecraft styled art. Blocks and all. It's very fun but it's a free to play so there are parts of the game that are pay to win.

That being said the game is very fun if you want to drop in and just play casually for an hour or so. Google it! It's pretty fun if you play casually.

I think Starbound is an example of taking an idea like Minecraft and transforming it into something completely different. Same sandbox genre, but has a completely different level of potential, nearly endless. If anyone hasn't seen Starbound yet, I suggest you go check it out.

Ace of Spades is a lot of fun if you thought Minecraft needed bunker building and guns. Feels like Team Fortress meets Minecraft. The beta was better but the retail version isn't too bad.

I played Vox recently and that seems to be pretty fun but lacks some of the same charm that Minecraft did. It's still in alpha or beta so it could get better.

I have played Terraria and I loved it. There are many options to do in that 2D world. That amazes me. The mobs variety is also good and mobs are challenging unlike minecraft.

I have played brickforce. But it lacked the feel of the build anything destroy anything. It was too fast paced for that.

I'm seconding Terraria. I actually think it is better than Minecraft. Minecraft is more of a sandbox, while Terraria is a better game in terms of survival and adventure. In Minecraft, armor is important. But in Terraria, armor is imperative if you want to survive.

Iv never played any of them. I feel like they are kind of cheating because the idea of minecraft is what makes it so interesting and they are just copying it. I have heard good things about some of them though so maybe I will check them out at some point.

Terraria is my favourite along with minecraft. It is quite obviously a minecraft-inspired Indie game. There are a lot more features in terraria though, such as way more weapons and mobs, and cooler caving experiences. Bosses are also a major difference, and there are a lot more ores and materials to obtain. Although Terraria has a better exploration experience, I think Minecraft has the better multiplayer and construction experience.

By a Minecraft-like game, I'm pretty sure you mean Terraria. When you look at Terraria, you know that it is Minecraft-inspired, due to the graphics and the gameplay. When I started it, I almost knew how to play, because of my knowledge in Minecraft.
The thing I love about Minecraft-inspired games is that they are 'Minecrafty!' I love playing them, knowing that they have some connection to Minecraft, because I love Minecraft so much.
The thing I like about Terraria is that it's inspired by Minecraft, but it has almost five times as many things to do in it than in Minecraft, which, however, is understandable because it is is a 2D-game, and it is easier to add mobs and features to it than Minecraft itself.

The suggestions are really good. I'm installing Terraria right now to see if I'll enjoy playing the game and also to check how much it is similar to minecraft.
