I was just wondering, has anyone here actually done the opt-in for beta and tried this out yet? I'm curious as to how the game functions on androids performance wise and I was also wondering what features were currently in game, in the pocket edition to see if maybe it was worth messing with. And for anyone who didn't know about the pocket edition you can see it on their website here: https://mojang.com/2015/04/minecraft-pocket-edition-0-11-0-beta-released/

We've covered the Pocket Edition in numerous threads so far. It's pretty fun to play on an Android device that has the hardware to run the game well. Older phones make it sluggish, though.

I have Minecraft PE on my phone. It's actually not that bad. The only thing that I don't really like is the screen size. But of course, that's what you should be expecting by playing on a mobile device. Small viewing distance, but still great gameplay!

Minecraft PE is very fun when you don't intend on starting a long-winded game or building any humongous structures. However, on Android it is very easy to manage and enjoy when you're on the go and can't get to your computer or console. As I said previously, the game really isn't so immersive and there are a lot of features from computer and console that aren't involved. The game can still be just as fun though.

    Has multiplayer been integrated yet?

The game is fine, good for a handheld game but it's very lackluster in terms of features. It's still early though, the devs are probably going to implement a lot of new things soon.

I enjoyed PE when it was young. They added some multiplayer functionality that I think you have to pay for which I find pretty stupid considering I payed 6 bucks to play this on an iPhone already! Anyways, playing on pocket edition is fun if you are REALLY into Minecraft and can't help but play it on the bus or in a car ride.

It really wasn't impressive to me. It seemed harder to actually control the character and also made it just frustrating to deal with. I would much rather play the version on my laptop and have less frustrations in operation.

I haven't tried Minecraft PE. It's always on the top apps list on the appstore but i'm reluctant on getting it because i know it's not the same when played on pc and i really don't want to waste money over something I'm not sure of. Also there's too many issues when it comes to mobile gaming like games keeps crashing and whatnot.

I don't really play games on my phone so it's not a huge deal to me what happens to the pocket edition, but I do think it's cool to see that the game is popular on other platforms, because it means more people might be moving to the PC version.

I'm honestly not a huge fan. I used to like it as it was the first one a played. But if I switched from PS3 to ipad I'd never play it. It's a bit better with the recent updates, but still not that great.

I have a Galaxy S3 and I have used pocket edition before. Honestly, I did not enjoy it, but it is a well-working app. I did not like how the hot bar had less room. When I play creative (which is what I mostly play because survival is way too difficult on a phone screen), it gets exhausting having to constantly go into the supplies and change my hot bar every few seconds. I understand that it would be difficult fitting more spaces on a small screen but at the end of the day I would just rather play on PC or a console. It works fine and is a good app if you're bored and want to play something other than Candy Crush, but I much prefer other versions.

Minecraft PE is alright and I've played the beta, nothing revolutionary though. Some of my favourite features like redstone aren't in it so it's never something I would repeatedly play. Maybe occasionally I'd build something but it's too lacklustre for me.

I want to try it, but I don't want to sacrifice apps I already like just to make room for this on my phone. Though I think it would be more difficult to control in terms of building things since you're using a small screen. I'll wait on it until the game has a bit more polish to it before I decide to test it out.

I haven't opted in, but I have been using the Pocket Edition for a while, and it is fantastic! In some aspects (like the infinite worlds), it is even better than the console editions, which is pretty sad for this current generation of consoles.

As of right now I can't get into pocket edition, although they have been adding plenty of content it just isn't enough for me. In fact based on current platforms I won't be able to really play it for another year or two. I need to explore and the content restricts me!!

I've tested the pocket edition and it's nothing very special about it, it's harder to use it from the phone, but still the same fun even though I wouldn't choose to play it from my phone because it would simply keep you from playing it the way you could at a PC.

I don't think it's for me. I'm not really into mobile games that much due to the screen being small and plus I feel that it distracts me a lot of social intertactions. None the less, I don't think I'll like it because I think the controls could be reeky difficult and uncomfortable to use.

Minecraft Pocket Edition is a blast. If you have an Android device, I know you can install other apps which allow you to install custom themes on Minecraft Pocket Edition. It's great in my opinion, and I've played it extensively.

Minecraft Pocket Edition is actually very fun! I've owned it on my iPad for quite some time now and I even play on online servers with my friends from college. I would say that I haven't gotten used to the on-screen touch controls just yet, but it's not that bad. Definitely fun for on-the-go type situations!
