Personally for me I think mobile gaming is the future of gaming somewhat. I believe PC's and consoles will always have their place, but I think in the next few years with advancements in hardware, mobile gaming will explode and be able to run games like consoles do now.

I have to disagree myself. Mobile gaming is a nice market and all, but people usually bother with mobile while on the go, which is why it's called mobile gaming. I know when I'm waiting in line somewhere I'll pull out my phone and play some Angry Birds. True PC and console gaming will stay the focus of most. I have a 3DS that I never play, because I have my phone on me all the time.

But I do think it'll become more popular down the road, just not nearly as popular as PC or console gaming. You just don't get enough immersion in a mobile device when it comes to gaming in my honest opinion.

I think Pc gamers are holding the gaming scene afloat right now. I don't think games that we like playing like mmo and rpgs are capable of being played on mobile devices. They will always need us:p

    Have to agree here.

You don't get the same experience playing on mobile as you do on a console or PC, and there isn't really much you can do about it while still calling it "mobile". I do think graphics will get better on the mobiles, but I don't think it will steal the limelight from consoles/PC.

Mobile, as much as I like it, will never out beat that of something on a big screen. I enjoy mobile gaming as much as the next guy, but it's not something we will grab and sit down for hours on end and play. I can understand handheld gaming consoles that focus on gaming, but mobile phones, tablets, etc will not ever take sales from consoles.

But tablets and phones are taking a chunk out of traditional handheld console sales. The 3DS is doing great, but it's not pushing the numbers the GBA or DS was. The mobile market is pushing handheld gaming out of the way somewhat.

Oh and I forgot about the Ouya (spelling may be off), which is an android gaming console for your TV. So far it's not doing so hot, but it could come back and take a bite out of console sales, that is if they can make games that are console worthy themselves. No one really wants to play Angry Birds on a big screen TV, at least not I.

I think mobile gaming is nearly as popular as portable gaming now. The PSP and DS all done great when they first came out, but some games on the App store on iOS have over 20,000,000 downloads. That's just one game!

I agree with mostly everyone in this topic. Mobile gaming is part of the future, but it's not the major focus or game developers. But I will admit that game developers like working on mobile games simply because it's easy to make games for phones and sell them for $1 or $5. People make a decent amount of money on the mobile market, so it could very well be part of our future, and I believe we'll still be purchasing those $1 games on the marketplace.

Console and pc gaming will still continue winning mass appeal until something more innovative and powerful comes along, and I have no idea if that's even possible.

Mobile gaming is about to take off. what if they optimize our games for tablets and stuff? They can also make accessories like keyboards and mouses to help us play too. What about 3d??

Mobile gaming is only for few boring moments on the go. I don't ever play mobile games at home, and why should i bother watching small screen when i can play with 5 times bigger. Mobile games will be also always behind the evolution so i would probably prefer PC or console.

Well, mobile gaming will become bigger and have better games but who wants to play something like Skyrim or GTA on a small monitor?

I can't completely agree with you, but neither can I disagree.

There is no doubt that mobile gaming is becoming more and more popular by the day and it will soon be worth a lot of money for the developers. And by a lot I mean it may match the console and PC games in it.

But at the same time I don't think the console games will ever die anytime soon. They're the games which real gamers play rather than the casual ones and they're here to stay.

So, what I see for the future is both types of platforms co existing. Peacefully or not? That remains to be seen.

It won't be 100% of the gaming industry in the future but I'm sure it will have a big marketshare on the overall, from time to time people are getting more and more into games from facebook, which consequently go to your android/ios devices, when I'm riding the subway everyday I see tons of people playing something in their mobiles, be it a puzzle game, or an adventure one, and this amount of people goes from kids in their 14s, to adults in their 40s so it's a very wide range of people that are in the mobile gaming industry, this only shows the growth potential inside the mobile gaming.

I highly doubt mobile gaming will take over. When it comes to mobile gaming, people like using it for fun. They browse the internet when they're at work, they play some games on-the-go, they never use it for 8 hours a day. People can use the PC or a console for 8 hours without stopping because it entertains them. Unless they make it as comfortable and adjust the screen size to mobile phones, they won't be taking over anytime soon.

I don't think mobile gaming will take over. Mobile gaming don't have the feels and excitement compare to playing in front of a desktop

For hardcore gamers a mobile platform will never replace a console / pc. However for the main stream it might happen.

Personally I use my phone to play simple games when commuting, it makes the time go by so much faster.

Like many have already said, PC and console gaming will still be around for years to come. It's hard to imagine how mobile gaming can surpass the gaming experience you get from playing in a PC or console. It would be great if the time comes when we could play games like Skyrim on our phones, though I couldn't fathom how. But then again, a new device or concept might come out with the ever advancing technology.

Personally, I love it. Despite the lack of graphics on some games, I still don't mind. I love the fact of things being portable!

Mobile gaming is no threat to standard, conventional gaming. It is a small niche category. I own a 3ds and I enjoy it but I don't play it nearly as much as I play my consoles and PC. I'm not even that impressed with 3ds. You have to hold it at just the right angle to see the 3d images properly.

Mobile gaming can be a nice distraction when you are trying to kill time, but it will never replace PC or console gaming. Last summer I was stuck somewhere without a PC or console for months, I was basically living on mobile games. I quite enjoyed games like Infinity Blade. Games that would center their controls around the fact that they didn't have physical controllers. That is key if you want to be successful. The games that had faux control-pads on-screen were just obnoxious to play, my thumbs would take up 1/4 of the screen and there was no tactile response.
Mobile games just can't compete with PC/console gaming. The most that mobile game developers could hope for is to take the place of portable game systems like the DS or PSP.

I don't really care for mobile or handheld gaming it feels awkward playing some games and I just rather play on a PC or Console.
