Have you ever came across any modders when playing WOW? I personally haven't but I was speaking to a friend of mine who said that he saw someone do some fly hack/glitch where he was able to jump hundreds of feet. I know most hackers do them on private servers, but have you ever came across one on a public server.

I think modding on any public servers is more or less impossible now with all the patches and security measures that Blizzard have put in place. I'd imagine some do still exist in private servers though. Grrr, I hate modders!

I have not seen any modders while playing warcraft, well not in a public match. I figure they're pretty tough on that and fast to combat that whenever something comes through. I have been in modded private lobbies, mostly for random fun. I do wonder why I've never encountered a public modded lobby, seems weird now that I think about it.

I think now most servers are equipped with anti-modding/hacking tools and have extra security protection to fight against them. What I would like to know though is how they do it if it's on an online server? Do they just mod the root files of WOW?

I think they modify the files of WOW, although I'm not completely sure. I think some already made mods are just made to overwrite certain files. Top programmers will hex edit certain files I think. There's still no way they won't be caught though.

The minute anybody sees something out of the ordinary in an online game, the news is all over the web in seconds and the owners will ban/delete accounts so it's a pointless exercise in a way. People will still do it though just because they can..

Yeah I wouldn't suggest anyone to try and hack on a public server, you'll get banned so quickly now with all the security and patches and such. I used to use some hack thing on a private server I was on, it was like, flying, speed, and a couple of other things. You could set a teleport point, and TP to it when a hotkey was pressed. Pretty cool.

Agreeing with you that this is less seen on public servers and it easy to hack when you have plenty of hack tools out there

No, this hasn't happened to me yet. Honestly, I haven't really run into much of anyone at all in the game yet except for every now and then, but I'm new so I'm just assuming those others I do see are probably new too.

Hacking and modding is a rarity in WoW with all of the security measures Blizzard has in place. It's not nearly as bad as other MMOs and multiplayer games in general.

There's lots of botters in WoW if that's what you mean. Generally only the ones that go as far as to mess with the economy/exploiting gameplay in a huge way get banned pretty fast. PvP botters are another fast ban too. Leveling bots are generally left alone because they're not harming anything in game, at that point, it's just leveling and that's all. I'm not saying that people should do it, but from experience over the years and knowing lots of people, Blizzard will usually turn a blind eye to some things if it doesn't mess with overall gameplay. Leveling alts is one of the main reasons why people bot in the beginning. Some go too far and start farming, but overall there's people out there who hate the leveling experience and just want to play end game content.
