As it stands, one of the best things about Minecraft is that it's such a small download. However, considering that so many gamers these days have high broadband speed and bandwidth, adding a few more MB's on top wouldn't be a big deal.

With that said, would you like Minecraft's base game to come with more features that normally mods would add? Such features would be a mini map (like Zan or Rei) and video tweaking (like Optifine).

I'd absolutely like the vanilla Minecraft to come equipped with more features. I could save a lot of time from downloading the mods I want from other sources. If the download comes in one installer, I don't have to install them separately.

I think Minecraft should come with all that stuff, it should at least be an option. I don't see why Mojang couldn't ask mod dev's to put their mods in the vanilla game. I'm sure the dev's would be thrilled. For such a large community of people working on Minecraft, it should really have more features.

Some updates add just about nothing new to the base game - which, after a long wait, leaves me severely disappointed. When the horses were from the Mo'Creatures mod, and 3D items from a second mod, were added to Minecraft I got excited because I thought that we were seeing a new direction that development would be going in where Mojang worked with mod developers to incorporate those ideas that had become popular in the mod scene. Instead, they went back to business as usual with some updates being very thin in terms of adding new content. It makes no sense to ignore the the huge pool of talent in the mod community!

Exactly pretty much what everyone has said. I would like to add that it's nice that Mojang adds all these new biomes and materials, but I think this is the problem with so many developers is that they focus so much on new content and less on function and bug fixing. A balance would be nice for a change. Considering that Minecraft has been around for years, you would think that the most basic features like mini map and visual tweaking would make it into their major updates.

It'd be nice if they had sponsored mods that you could download already implemented in and the mods could pay to be included for exposure, that'd be good.

I think a balance would be good, pretty much what has already been said. If they focus a lot on fixing bugs, and more on functioning that would be good. However, I do like the game as it is, and sometimes I don't like that they have already added so much to it compared to how it began. I can't make up my mind. More base Minecraft can only be a good thing!

More features? Like more equips, mobs, plants, and such? Can't you get that from mods you find online? I do not think it is necessary for them to do it if so many has already done it.

I think a mini map would be absolutely wonderful! It's something simple and small that could really make a difference in the way people play.

If they implement a minimap, what would be the point of crafting an actual map though? The HUD is minimal, just like the game's graphics. I think what the game could use is more stuff for water. The sea is painfully barren and empty, and boats are always that tiny raft thing. I'm not entirely sure how it would be implemented, but I'd like to make a yacht I could drive, then get up from my captains chair and start fishing or diving. And there has to actually be something worth diving for!

Yeah, it would be a great little addition to Minecraft. This way you'll be able to see where your house/city/castle is and maybe you'd be able to plot checkpoints.

I definitely think it'd be cool to have more features available with vanilla Minecraft because looking for a bunch of awesome mods that actually work on your own can be quite time consuming and troublesome at times.

I think Minecraft should be per-equipped with some of these things. The reason they don't is because some people my like the basic, simple game without enhancers and mods. It would be a lot easier for MoJang to let people download their own mods!
