My two-cents on this game

I gave this a try. I got to say it's sort of fun, but nothing new to the genre. I small kid could probably learn to play it quickly, and for some (like me), if the game is too complicated right off the bat, I will give up on it. The problem I have is that it has worse graphics than World of Warcraft. It's just nothing special, and no reason to pay for it in my book.

Disheartening to say the least. I was interested in the idea of being able to play this along with others who were fascinated and enjoyed the Elder Scrolls. I had kept thinking the world would be very much like Skyrim and would be able to play in a setting such as that.

To what you are saying, It is nothing like that at all. I'll look around some more but I will keep my expectations down before even thinking about buying it. Graphics is a pretty strong selling point for me to be honest.

Graphics is very important, but without any context or game-play or story-line to back it up, it's just staring a good looking picture.

Honestly the game elder scrolls online was exactly what i was expecting. I didn't get my hopes up from the get go because as soon as i heard that Bethesda wasn't making it i was like "nope!'.

I feel like I got shorted a couple cents. Would you care to elaborate more on your feelings of the game - more than just the graphics and meager generalizations?

It just felt like they were making another WOW but used the Elder Scrolls paintjob and replaced WOW's story and lore with their own. I suppose the selling point was that you could finally play and elder scrolls game with your friends, but it was glitchy as hell sometimes and it wasn't as smooth as I expected it to be. I'd rather play my old Elder Scrolls game than go back to this in the long run.

Saying it's too complex implies that you haven't experienced everything it has to offer yet perhaps. I found the same the with Morrowind but I'm glad I stuck it out; it was well worth it. But ya, the graphics aren't amazing.

I will definitely only try out this game when it goes completely and utterly F2P. As in, free client, free content. Until then, I keep it away from my idea of the Elder Scrolls Universe.

Well, then you're going to have to wait for a while since I don't see this game going utterly F2P anytime soon. Why don't you try it out now, what's holding you back?

The game is nothing necessarily ground breaking, but it is extra content for people who love anything and everything Elder Scrolls. I feel that this is more of a game that a small following of their fanbase was asking for and they just wanted to deliver it to appease them. It's not their triple A release, but it's a game that sells decently and will net a good profit.

The crafting is very innovative. The combat is unlike anything I've seen before. The fact that skills aren't bound to classes is pretty unique also. How aren't these features "nothing new"?

Had Bethesda have made the game, the quality and replay length would be different stories indeed. The game was enjoyable for me yet at the same time I felt it missed something important. Many had high hopes for this by basing Skyrim as the quality standard. I honestly think many would be more happy adding online free roam servers to Skyrim.

Well, the entire idea of an online Elder Scrolls game, is atrocious to me. What I ment with my post, was, that I would give it a shot only if I didn`t have to spend one single dime on it, only to check out what all the fuss was about. But I am really skeptical that it would change my mind.

I wish games like this has more depth to them, like if you did this, that happens, and you unlock these which get you this and allow you to go here type thing. everything is kind of available to you right when you start and I wish there was more depth to make me want to play some more.

There are some great quest chains that seem almost emergent, but knowing that they're pretty much separate for each players kinda breaks the immersion. This is something that Guild Wars 2 does well with its world events, shame that ZeniMax didn't make notes.

True, It would take multiple playthroughs to get all of the quests done, which is a slight deal breaker for me.

It's quite nice that now there's no subscription fee and you can take all the time you need to complete all the quests you want.

Yeah, it is very unlikely they will change their business model again. Unless the cash-shop really does well in these games, they need that box sale.
