Just got wind of the info that you'll be able to add a beer belly during character creation at ESO. I think this feature is neat because it adds a certain amount of realism to the game. Granted that we all play these games because we want to get out our own skins for a change, but adding realistic features on character bodies may add to the immersion somewhat. I like the idea of my character also growing old and grizzled, probably sitting in front of a porch playing a lute because he took an arrow in the knee. (Sorry, I just had to get that in. ;p)

Anyway, the idea here is about making characters more realistic. What do you think? Should MMO's allow us to make extremely-realistic characters, or should we just stay with ideal-looking characters?

Oh, definitely. Honestly what pulls me into these games is the sense of individuality you can achieve. I mean, that's why people work so hard to level, generally -- they want the gear for their level that will make them look different from everyone else. So I think that once you give characters physical qualities that can make them look unique (like, for instance, a hair colour of ANY RGB value, or the ability to change your clothes to any colours - or add designs - or, I don't know, bedazzle them), you're making the game less of a drive to become unique, and more of a drive to explore and have fun - because you already stand out. It's human nature to want to stand out (to non introverts I guess :) )

I'd also want to be able to add poor facial hair, acne, etc to my character. The idea of making a neckbeard of a Templar is very appealing to me, somehow.

I don't care to much for beer bellies, but I do like the idea of acne instead of having to make a character with a perfect face all the time.

To be honest character creation is never something I cared about too much, especially when I'm playing in first person most of the time and can never even see my character. I mean... after spending hours modelling your face in Skyrim, how often did you actually get a chance to look at it?
