I know there have been numerous problems with both U.S. and the EU release with players struggling to actually log in and dealing with lag issues, but I'm wondering if anyone has gotten a chance to play the new expansion yet? I lucked out in the sense that my server wasn't hit with any of the lag issues as I fully planned to just transfer once my guy hit 100. So I'll just be waiting for another couple days for the lag issues to figure themselves out and then transfer.

I haven't gotten into too much of the content, but I've had a good time with leveling and have been enjoying the lore. Thus far, it's been a big upgrade over MoP leveling, which was a complete pain to do and not enjoyable at all.

What say you on the new release?

SHORT VERSION: I enjoy the additions like companions (taken from SWTOR) and garrisons. Not so much the grinding, but every MMO game is like that.

    -----

    SUPER LONG VERSION (rant):

I do not have much opinion on the expansion itself. The official WoW forums on the other hand is full of the usual post-release BS from impatient finger-pointing players who ++constantly assume++ that just because a company makes millions, it somehow must divert all of those millions to one massive quality assurance team to test out every single line of code, every single scenario in a massive game to rid it of bugs.

Reading just one of those threads pissed me off so much, I closed my browser and put on some music to calm my rage. Those entitled ignorant little s**ts really make me mad.

The most common thing I read was: "It is NOT OUR JOB as players to test your game. It is YOUR JOB to test your game."

Wow, people like that make me sick to my stomach. I really want to go up to that person and bash his computer in and tell him to go get some basic education on software development and what QA really means.

Every single MMO game since the mid 1990's that I've played that has gone through major patches and expansions has gone through a period of instability. ALL OF THEM. 100% of them. I have never played one MMO game that did not have bugs at release. Players who think all a development company has to do is divert money and hire 'competent' programmers and managers are some of the most uneducated people I read about. It really makes me wonder what sort of experiences they have in life that put them on the self-righteous pedestal of ALL-KNOWING entitled BS that comes out of their mouths and fingers.

Blizzard has ALWAYS done a fantastic job, REGARDLESS of my personal feelings about the changes they introduced in every expansion that came out since TBC.

TBC, WotLK, Cataclysm, Pandaria and now with WoD - every single expansion introduced show stopper bugs. Even when vanilla WoW was released in the first week, it had tons of bugs, queue times and the usual flamers who threatened to quit at release, saying crap like Blizzard sucks and every single expansion had the usual trolls that said WoW was dying.

Well, I want to tell all of those players to go [insert swear word here] themselves.

OTHERWISE, as I said, I don't have much of an opinion. $60 for some may be an arm and a leg. $60 to me is half a day of work. $15/month for some is exchanging their liver for game time. $15/month for me is half a good lunch and that doesn't even include a pint of my favorite Ale. If people are complaining about the obvious cost of an MMO game with that of post-release bugs, I really really wonder in what sort of reality they live in and maybe they should stop playing MMO games all together. Heck, I paid for 6 months of WoW once and only played less then 10 days. Did I complain I couldn't log in? Nope. Did I complain about the few odd bugs? Nope. Did I enjoy the ten days? Yup.

So, Blizzard, in the off chance you read this post: keep up the great work. I am glad to have spent the thousands of dollars to support your company over the last 10 years for WoW and about 20 years for all of your products.

Personally I am loving it, but I did participate in the beta so I had access to a lot of the content prior to the expac going live. That being said, my favorite part of the new expansion are the garrisons. They really add something to the game. I like having my own "private" place to hang out. There's also a lot more non-stop action and things feel like they move really fast in the game with good story progression. I hope this will bring some folks that quit because of MoP to come back (esp. since they can boost one character to 90 for free and completely skip the MoP content if they choose).

I don't have much of an opinion on WoD one way or the other. To me, it just seems like little more than the game had to offer before. Of course, I am rather new so don't take this opinion too much to heart; it is likely to change within the weeks or months to come.

I think the whole garrison system is kinda cool if you take it for what it is, a fun side-thing to do for a couple minutes here and there. I think some people were expecting it to be a huge part of their gameplay.

Besides garrison, the zone layout and optional quests are a great addition.. It is nice to have quests available where you can just go grind mobs if you are in the mood to do that and the timeless island type rare system is fun also. It breaks of the monotony of grindign quests through a zone when you can get sidetracked by a rare event.

I love the entire thing. It's a worthy addition to the game, and I didn't experience any of those issues, aside from maybe having to wait to jump onto a server. I mean, those things were packed for the first few days.

The new expansion is entertaining and fun so far. A ton of my old guild mates and friends have come back to the game to experience the new content. Who knows, I may end up doing a few raids with old time buddies, which is what I've been missing when I tried to get into MoP.

The leveling is more fun than MOP was for sure. There are a lot of people coming back to WoW so maybe the PVP scene will be more competitive. They are putting more focus on world bosses and rare spawns so that is kind of cool.
