People need to stop worrying about this! Minecraft was just bought by Microsoft, so we have yet to see what their plans are for the game. Give it a while so that we can see what Microsoft has in store for the game. You never know, a lot of good could come out of this purchase, but we will never know what the possibilities are if we are not accepting to change.

Good could come out of this purchase, but we're talking about the same company that made windows 8 .-.

I do not see any reason to worry about this. They just bought it because it is popular and with it they can reach a new group of people, us, we, who play he game, young or old. Minecraft will be fine.

Yeah it's not like much was being done with Minecraft lately anyway, and could always download old versions if it gets ruined.

I completely agree with that, you can always download an older version if you don't like the current one and personally I don't think that MS will ruin the franchise, I think they realise the potential of this game and thus will hire intelligent people to be the head of the future projects for the game who will understand the spirit of the game and its fanbase.

I really don't feel like it's going to be a huge problem. Minecraft is such a successful brand that they aren't going to hardly change anything. I'm hoping that it will have online servers and built in skins. I'm sure there will be a ton of new settings and maps to explore but honestly I don't see it going bad in any way. The only issue could be with having to pay for some features. That wouldn't be cool but is on par with the other servers anyway.

They're smart enough to know not to disrupt the game when its basically printing money still. The only time would actually need to worry is if Minecraft was not making money anymore, because that's when you would see FTP-esque things start to slip in. I'm actually kind of excited though, because this could mean we get some newer, larger content updates for the game. As of recently it felt like a lull in content, but that might have just been cause they were busy with the selling of the game.

Microsoft is limited financially by what it can do to change Minecraft because unfavorable changes will result in a loss of money for the company. Plus, Microsoft has plenty of experience developing Minecraft, so there's little chance that things will go downhill from here.

I think I might have mentioned this somewhere else, but it's possible that with the huge legal team of microsoft, they might be able to do something good with the bukkit/spigot situation.

Minecraft with Windows 8 interface? God help us all...

But to be honest, I'm really excited about what's going to happen to Minecraft now. I mean, this is one of the biggest indie games to date and I think MS has really a lot on it's back with this purchase.

Well, if Microsoft does mess up MineCraft then lots of people will leave, they will have to advertise their Xbox and other stuff much more carefully as a single mistake could mess up the population of Minecraft.

I can see why people worry about this but I don't really think we should have any reason to worry. Microsoft probably is smart enough not to drastically change Minecraft as they should know people like the current feel of Minecraft. Since Minecraft is already so popular and successful, I really don't think they will have any reason to drastically change anything, as they should know this could possibly make many people leave Minecraft. There may be a few updates, but I really don't think any big changes will be made unless Minecraft starts being less succesful.

I know a lot of people are really worried about linux support. Microsoft never really cared much for linux, even if MS office exists on mac. It makes sense, because linux is used by the fewest people, but I know a lot of linux users are backing up their games :p

Love this video but seriously though, considering microsofts actions with the Xbox One, we have plenty of reason to be worried.
