Pokemon Z: is it going to happen?

If you had asked me this last week, I would have said no. After all, we didn't get Pokemon Gray. Yet with the news that has come forth regarding Zygarde and his new formes, one can't help but wonder. Especially since their sprites have been found in the coding for the Pokemon X and Y games. (Meaning, they could be transferred between XY and Z one day...)

Zygarde has four new formes: Cell, Core, 10% and Complete. This makes the Zygarde we have already seen in X&Y the "50%" forme. These forms are to be featured in the upcoming Hoopa movie, as well as the Pokemon XYZ anime season that is on the way. (Which that itself seems hint enough, IMO.)

In addition, we've also been introduced to a new Ash's Greninja forme, which introduces the idea that pokemon can become close enough to their trainers (with keystones) to take on their traits. This addition to the Mega Evolution plot, plus Zygarde, PLUS the fact that we haven't had events for Hoopa and Volcanion... it all screams third game content to me!

What do you think? Will we see a Pokemon Z? Or will we move on to the next generation?

I made a joke that the next Pokemon generation name gimmick will focus on Blood type like Pokemon AB and Pokemon O since X and Y deals with DNA. I wouldn't be surprised if they did Z but it would have to be more catchy-sounding to make it sell.

Hah! That would be amusing. It does bring about the question of "what names will they use next?" but I suppose that's better saved for another topic. ;)

(PS: I'm still waiting for a Pokemon Purple.)

Pokemon Purple...I guess you could rename Pokemon Yellow that since it came after Red and Blue so the scheme would fit in. It would be funny if they just said "screw it" and start numbering it like they do with Final Fantasy.

I love how these games are named based on colors and letters. Doing it based on blood type would top things off lol. Though if they are dropping hints here and there then I don't see why not for making a Pokémon Z. Thus kind of reminds me of one of yugioh/zexal and the players using xyz type cards. It's been a long time since I've seen that show so forgive the mispelling.

I don't see why Pokemon Z wouldn't happen, really. The franchise is big, people won't mind if a new Pokemon game will come out and they will make some sales - everyone is happy!

Well, the next CoroCoro magazine will come out on 10/15, and it usually leaks on the 10th. That's always been where information comes from first (like the Zygarde forms, for example) so hopefully there will be an announcement confirming this new game in this month's issue!

Well, the Japanese are big on dealing with blood types when it comes to relationships and compatibility. Hell, that could be a new Pokemon feature: raise the compatibility of two Pokemon via tag team battles and it will determine the stats of any kids that come from their union. If it ever happens, I'm totally claiming the idea as mine and I shall now screenshot this page just for proof XD

Well, this month's Corocoro didn't announce the new game, but it DID reveal that Japan is having events to giveaway shiny Zerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde...

    Seems like another clue, IMO.

We're bound to get a Pokemon Z at some point, especially with the new Zygarde formes, the legendary that haven't had events yet and other thing's like Az's Floette. If not a Pokemon Z, then I guess we might get a x/y2 like how we got Black and White 2.

True sequels are definitely an option. Maybe with all the loose ends in X/Y, that might even be the better option. Plus, Nintendo would enjoy trolling us with X/Y2 when we're expecting Z, just like how they did with Black/White2 when we expected Gray, lol.

I don't know about a Pokémon Z, but definitely some sort of a return to that region seems nessesary. So much was unexplained or just unexplored.

The latest anime season is literally called "Pokemon XY&Z", so there's no convincing me anymore that they'll name the successor of X and Y anything else than Z. :p Sure, they made B2 and W2, but they never sais a word about Grey themselves.
