    Hey guys!
What is the food source you always use when you start, until your building project is finished? With this I mean: Do you go fishing or do you hunt for the first couple of days, or do quickly start growing crops?
As I'm never fully satisfied with my spawning point, I always travel quite a big distance. Instead of checking the area for food, I always kill some animals for food.
I don't have supplies to make a fishing rod, and growing crops takes way too long.

I just use bread because I have a wheat farm. It's so easy to grow and doesn't take too much time so it's essential for me as I’m never at home

Bread is the best IMO, easy to grow wheat and if you have a giant farm it's practically an unlimited food source.

Bread is quite easy, but it takes so much time. Are you guys never away from home for longer periods? How do you produce enough bread in the beginning to last so many days? Or is it just me...?

I agree, that bread is the easiest long term solution as well, you can always find wheat seeds by breaking up some grass the moment you start the game and can till soil with just a wooden hoe, every easy to plant and just set it and forget it while you focus on other resource gathering. However I will say in the long term it end up with a TON of steaks. I always breed a huge amount of cows for the leather that's needed for books. I am pretty big into the enchanting thing and you need to collect a pretty fair amout of leather for a good enchanting room, plus extra for any decoration so I get tons of meat along with the leather, but that me. As for fish, I normally only spend the time fishing when I need it to tame cats, but overall, in the same amout of time catching 4 fish I could have hunted down about a dozen pigs. Porkchops rule!

I usually start of getting two cows after i grew a wheat with a few bonemeal and start a small wheat and cow farm. I cook up the meat with the coal i have aquired from the mining i have done in the meantime. Or the wood i have turned into charcoal.

If I want to start with a large build (ex. putting up my first/new house), I'll go with bread because I know I'll be in the area for a while and it'd be worth it to start with a farm. In other situations where I want to explore more, I can usually make a few pieces of charcoal, stockpile a bunch of meat because of how easy it is to find cows/pigs, and cook it all. It'll usually last long enough for me to build a farm after or perhaps find a good lake to fish at.

If worst comes to worst and I can't find any animals nor enough resources to make a rod, there's always zombie flesh... :(

Wheat. I almost never go fishing, but that's just because I always forget about it. I would fish more though if I actually remembered!

With wheat, I just make a little farm and sometimes when I go to AFK I'll stay in a safe place but I'll have my crafting table open so the game still runs and wheat still grows when I'm looking at other websites. That, and I'll usually kill a bunch of animals if I see them around, but I'll usually leave at least two of each of them so I can breed them. Later on in the game I make an animal farm but I also make my wheat farm bigger and eat both equally.

The cows are usually my first source of food, I'll kill two or three (being careful not to wipe them entirely out in case I wanna stay in that area). Then after I get my shelter built I'll start a little wheat farm, then I breed the cows - So, in Minecraft, I pretty much live off of burgers.

I also use bread! I have an automatic wheat farm, so getting wheat is no problem for me! Also, some of the mod packs I use let me autocraft. I autoharvest the wheat and then autocraft the bread and store it in mass amounts! I never have any shortage of food this way!

Bread. I actually enjoying planning and constructing wheat farms(Weird I know). Plus I feel like bread is the most "filling" food that takes the least amount of effort.

I see a lot of people bingefarming wheat. Do you guys also farm other things? Like carrots or watermelons for example? I know however watermelons are really bad food sources.

I usually use bread and pork, both can be made easily and reliably. Sometimes I make a cake or two when I go on journeys outside of my home. They are both portable and you don't need much of it to get to max hunger.

Well there's always bread. But when I don't feel like farming I just rely on chickens and cows for food. The occasional apple also comes in handy. My game plan as of now is to be a nomad, I travel a lot in Minecraft so I can't really stick to farming.

You are the first nomad I've encountered on here. Are you an experienced player? I can't really imagine how you can be an effective nomad, since you can't really save up a lot of resources.

To tell you the truth I just die and die and die and die again. But what I do is I build a house, nothing fancy, just a small one. I gather resources, wood, stones and food and once I got bored of my house or if I just want to move out, I find a new spot. But I do keep a bed in one of the houses so if I die I don't respawn somewhere random. But most of the time I just get killed.

No I never do anything else apart from what because it's not slow and you can get a lot of it with seeds returned . Also, carrots or watermelons take quite long to grow and they don't restore much health anyway

I usually eat pork or bread because they are the easiest for me to find and get as I have a garden that grows well and also a farm full of pigs.

For me I use mainly bread and pork chops as those have become a main stream of access to me. I will use apples if I'm out exploring one and happen to find a tree with the inside of it. However that usually proves to be a problem for me as I can never seem to cut down the tree within an angle good enough to get many fruits. I grow pumpkin as well so that is sometimes used as another goody that I partake of. I can't quite recall how I even came across pumpkin seeds but I did and I have no complaints.

I remember when I first started playing Minecraft amidst the confusion of where I even halfway spawned at, I remember being spawned by a town. (I don't remember asking for a pre-built town, but again no complaints.) Close by this particular town I had a back lot full of pigs which I decided to quickly dig a deep hole around as many as I could. So there was the access to them immediately and of course the wheat came with the town so there was that. Also helps to reproduce your animals so they won't run out. (Which I did not discover until later.)So I guess you could say that I made out like a bandit in my world.;)

This seems like a good idea but it seems wasteful to kill pigs for a bit of food and then waste some wheat on trying to get them to reproduce so you still have a lot of pigs. Also, you need to spend your time chasing pigs and feeding them which can be better spent on finding diamonds or something
